I struggle with where to place Pittsburgh, too. I think it depends on how they do in the month leading up to the trade deadline
15:03 Well Calgary got Kuzmenko, not Kuznetsov
Damn Ottawa you guys upset me as a neutral fan. That young core of Tim, Brady, Drake, and Chabot you guys can’t do it. I know Claude hoped for more when he went there.
Fleury has an NMC and has made it clear he doesn't want to move his family again. He isn't going anywhere
I put the Devils in the same boat as the Flyers and Islanders. I’m not sure any team in the Metro will be out of the race any time soon, but they all have some contracts they can get something back for to give a team a rental if they wanted to write this season off.
Especially NJ, which has Toffoli that they can sell off for solid value and has been shelled by injuries this year, it wouldn’t be the worse thing if they felt out of the race.
But if I were their GM, I’d agree with you only because they have a good chance of making the playoffs if they can get Hughes back and go on a run.
I would like to see Vegas pick up someone if they can afford it. It may just end up being a medic or trauma doc though based on this year's injury list. D core has played 1 game together all year. Entire team has YET to play together. It's nuts.
Kings as potential buyers? I think they should be selling. Even if they do reach the playoffs–likely as a Wild Card–they will not get past the 1st Round again.
The Capitals should have traded Lindgren and given Shepard or Stevenson a chance. But they waited too long and Lindgren is cold right now. So many teams need goalies and the Capitals have four good NHL ready goalies. They need to trade a goalie and take advantage of how many teams really need a goalie. The market for goalies is very different than the market for forwards or defensemen. Even with Lindgren struggling right now, I still think they need to trade him.
Boston pretty close to Cup contender aleady? maybe experienced top six center?
could Dallas use experience in playoffs?
Toronto acquire two way second pair defenseman?
most contenders only need one, maybe two additions?
with Soucy having injuries this year, could Vancouver use second pair defenseman?
Man if the Canucks could pick up both Vatrano and Tanev I have a hard time seeing anybody stopping us. But to get both they likely would have to give up at least as many assets combined as they already did with Lindholm. Just not sure it's worth it.
How the hell is Toronto going to buy anything when nearly two thirds of their cap space is tied up in five players, three of whom have just recently signed massive contract extensions? They'd have to gut their remaining lineup so thoroughly that, with the sole exceptions of the aforementioned five and whomever they pick up, they'd effectively be playing with an AHL roster.
At the end of the first period in DC last night it felt like a wake for the Caps era of OVI-Backy-Carlson, some great regular seasons and one glorious Stanley Cup! Turn out the lights the parties over. SELL SELL SELL!!!!!!
That nail looks like 4 inches to me
As a die hard rangers Shannon is one thousand percent correct. Time for the guys to step up show us what you are made of besides very little money
Dougie Armstrong wants to make the playoffs to justify saving his job, the Blues probably stand pat unless there's a special opportunity.
I don’t think the Panthers will do a whole lot at the deadline. We have several key guys we need to resign this year and next so any trade we make will be for a rental that will not be in the roster next season. Plus, I think Zito has been a little more hesitant to make deadline deals after we overpaid big time on Giroux and Chairot.
I love your vids but I don’t think the wings are a stand pat at all, definitely potential buyers
Devils are a weird one. This seasons standing has a lot more to do with injuries and goaltending than anything else but the loss of McLeod is going to hurt. I think if Jack Hughes is back soon and you are able to maintain a healthy team from here on out, buying a 3rd line center and a 5/6 Dman are moves than put them right back into the contender category.
Playoff experience was tremendous for NJ last year and they need more. They aint winning the Cup this year but I want them to get in. The more this young team gains in terms of learning experiences, the better.
