  1. Of course the Flames should try to optimize on a return for Markstrom. However, I don't think Markstrom is very open to leaving Calgary based on recent comments.

  2. Yes. Markstrom should want to go to a contender, and the Flames should want to sell high on him. They won't be contending for the cup anytime soon.

  3. Isn’t this what they said about Florida last year? My favorite was in 2019 when a TSN writer was praising Ken Hitchcock in Edmonton and made the comment that things are not going so well for Craig Berube’s St Louis Blues… who won the cup that year? ????????

  4. its not an unpopular opinion in Calgary. i can tell you Flames fans know what this team is and Markstrom is a good year bad year goalie who is having an incredible season.

  5. How many games did Markstrom save for the flames this season?
    5,6,7 ?
He is holding the team in there with a possible shot at the playoffs while Conroy is making moves around him to improve the team.
Hanifin should be the first to get traded and then possibly Tanev.
Hanifin would supply a good haul. Get that done, then see if Tanev should go also.
Teams are not all lusting over Tanev because they like old guys. They want him because he is a solid dependable experienced rock of a defenceman.
The kind of guy that maybe Calgary should be looking to get? No need. The Flames already have that guy and his name is Tanev.

  6. Of course they should trade him. Hopefully to the Devils or Carolina who have lots of depth in their organizations. Either of those teams would have a reasonable shot at the cup with better goaltending. These teams can't let their teams down while their best players are in their prime. So they have to give something up that will be good for the flames.
