I think Botts pays Skinner what he wants in the end. He already pawned off our other key offensive assets. Jason needs to save face, and imagine how bad it would look if Skinner walks.

Jeff Skinner is the future with Eichel pay him with the Matt Moulson money just freed up.
If he were to have gone to free agency he would have commanded north of 9.5 a year. His body of work got him the contract, which I DO think he deserves. We have plenty of cap space for Botts to supplement the offense with high impact players. I think the 2019 -2020 Sabres will look considerably different than last year. I might be wrong but the Sabres have not kept a strong core together since the glory days of Briere and Drury, even the Vanek/Pominville years had a decent core. Lock in the future while you can… Eichel, Skinner, Reinhart, Dahlin, etc hold the key to the future and thats an incredibly strong core to build around. IMHO.
