Selling the farm for rentals is absurd. This team has first round exit written all over it even with Hanifin and Tanev. If they do make a trade there needs to be extensions in place.

Leafs and Leafs nation are GREAT at hyping their prospects… Lilejgren, Sandin, Robertson, now it's Cowan and Minten? If the Leafs have consternation over trading any of these guys for 2 top 4 dmen, both mobile who can also be put together as an established pair, you pull that proposed trade in a heartbeat. Nope from a Flames fan – deal them separately and get more from 2 teams than that proposed deal.
The Leafs trading for Hanefin would only show they have not learned from the last several years. Harvesting the future and giving it away to acquire a UFA who they will not be able to re-sign has proven again and again to be a losing proposition.
They would have to be sending Brodie the other way. They would need to send actual roster players to even make it work under the cap — and does Calgary want Brodie?
At some point, Toronto needs to learn from the last five years' mistakes at the trade deadline. Every year they load up on UFA players who they cannot hope to get on a contract for the next year. From last year they have one guy left. It happens again and again. And meanwhile, all those prospects who have been moved are looking pretty good on other teams.

The season is a right off. Don't trade anymore picks prospects. Trade the U.F.A's for whatever. BUILD YOUR FRIGGIN DEFENSE, the past 7 years has proven that they cannot win on skill alone.

As a die hard flames fan…I would do the trade for tanev and Hanifin…to Toronto because we need to bring the cup home and in the near future bring it home to Calgary
