It’s simultaneously completely astounding and entirely predictable that all it took for some of this fan base to convince themselves that a proper rebuild is unnecessary was for this team to play at a 93 point pace for four months.

With the way some people talk about an expedited rebuild and all that shit, you would think that we’re running away with the Metro and have five blue-chip prospects in the pipeline. In reality, we’re in a playoff spot for two reasons. First, virtually everything went right for the team this season (up until the Hockey Canada news broke, of course) and second, the Metro has been surprisingly mediocre and left the third spot in the division up for grabs.

I really don’t get the whole Trade Konecney mindset. He’s 27 and we got what, 2 more years before Michkov comes over + 3 years of ELC? So he’ll be 32 when it’s time to pay Michkov. You basically have TK for the end of his prime while Michkov is cheap.

It’s a no brainer to keep him. You would need multiple firsts and top prospects to even consider it.

I think everyone here is okay with selling Laughton, Walker, Risto, etc.

In order to be successful in a rebuild though you need some sort of veteran leadership for the young guys coming in, and some sort of consistency. You can very much do a rebuild and keep guys like TK and Coots for that reason.

I’d rather cut my own dick off then trade Konecny right now.

I want a Flyers era to be proud of thats all.

Our boys were on some sort of Game of Thrones world where no one was safe. I too was expecting the #1 player to just vanish one day, yet they stuck around.
    My heart can’t take it.

Evil Gritty’s option A was to extend TK for 6 years at 9mil. That’s an insanely great deal for us. So it’s not that I won’t trade TK… but I’m choosing a TK age 27-33 at 9mil over two kids that’ll be selected in the mid 20’s and hopefully be NHL ready in 4 years. We aren’t going to get stars with those picks. Best outcome would be using them to attain a big young center with top 6 potential.

Wait are there people here who genuinely believe trading Travis Konecny is a good idea? If so, why?

  9. Dry_Explanation_3724

trading TK depends on what kind of 1st rounders you are getting. 2 1st round picks that will likely be in the 20’s doesnt help whatsoever and is shit value for a player of his caliber

Evilgritty is a troll & a moron. Trading TK for magic beans would be one of the stupidest decisions Briere could make. Is he exactly the kind of player a team like Toronto needs? Absolutely but the return wouldn’t be even close to fair value.

/u [upcan845](https://www.reddit.com/user/upcan845/) can’t go two days without posting something in here about staying the course of the rebuild, like any sane person in here doesn’t understand this but also just enjoying the ride. Really must be tiresome.

I think it’s just such a tough call. He is right on the line age wise. 2 years younger and he’s not going anywhere. 2 years older and he doesn’t fit the timeline. But instead he is perfectly placed in the maybe column. You’ve gotta look at him and guess is he gonna age well and hope you guess right. If he doesn’t and you hold onto him you looking like an absolute idiot who refused to actually rebuild the team. If you trade him and he stays great into his mid 30s you look like an idiot who doesn’t know how to evaluate talent that’s sitting right in front of you.

I think it should come down to the offer. You don’t trade him just to trade him, but if you can get multiple picks and a prospect then it’s hard to say no to it.

  13. Oh look, another bullshit post by this guy. Useless, clueless nonsense.

By the way, TK is 26, not 36 like some weirdos seem to think.
