Suzuki two points! Slaf is a goal scorer! Caufield on an 11 game pt streak heater! And we lose in regulation — this is the perfect game for the end of the season.

  2. willard287

Suzuki and Slaf with goals and Caufield extending his point streak? Amazing game, see ya tomorrow

  3. Dexteris

    Dr.SlafMONSTERsky with another goal

Zukes with another multi point game

Ti-Cole with 11 games point streak

Probably the best game of Matheson with the habs

    Welcome back Newhook!!!

And we’re losing without an OT point, PERFECT

  4. Matiabcx

Unlucky. But the guys played with so much heart. Good efford gg dallas

  5. Throaway44009988

Top line put up points, montembeault looked great, solid PKing, id say this is a perfect tanking L.

Sucks to say but josh anderson shifts at this point have been relegated to getting hemmed in his zone and losing the puck behind the net after a drive. In all honesty its a massive failure that they didnt trade him while he still has value

  6. trebuchetwarmachine

Perfect tank game. Monty played well, first line played well, Newhook looked good coming back, loss in regulation.

  7. DDDenver

Otter really was the difference maker here. No shame in that game. Great effort, tons of fun to watch. That pk on the double minor was legendary, wish those short handers would have gone in!

  8. OnlineEgg

refs tossed that game, but great effort from the habs tonight. so happy with newhook back in the lineup. the future is bright for this team

  9. janedoe514

The refs were very suspects but we did had a few pp to equalize things, some 2 on 1 missed too

This was basically an ahl team+1 line vs one of the best team in the league. It’s hard to ask for more rn

But let’s talk about Caufield points streak, Suzuki is almost PPG, and he played with Anderson and a cold Caufield during the season! What about Slaf goal? OMG

Rewatching Evans penalty and damn Pavelski was almost on his knees, he bend down for the puck? Because he goes right in his chest if not… anyway. [Replay](https://x.com/drakemt/status/1756415035532792145?s=46&t=UR164vzk5fTru73XW2yVHQ)

  10. Shoddy-Wear-9661

They battled hard but in the end a lack of finish lost them the game, multiple good chances on the PK that they “should’ve” converted, still loved the game extremely entertaining.

  11. swords_to_exile

That 4 minute call was one of the biggest pieces of garbage I’ve seen in ages.

Pavelski fucking ducks into a stomach height stick. That isn’t high-sticking, it’s being a dumbass.

  12. sean_psc

As long as our top line continues to score multiple goals per game and our goalie keeps bailing us out, we have a shot at winning.

Good game from the aforesaid top guys, and Newhook looked solid in his return (especially in his new position on the power play).

There’s a ton of dead weight on this forward corps, but that’s nothing new.

  13. bordercauley

Thoroughly entertaining game despite the loss and some questionable work by the linesmen and ref. Top line is doing great.

I don’t like our odds for tomorrow, though. Our best players are going to be gassed.

  14. bcgrappler

Slaf looks killer, Cole the streak caufield looks killer, captian nick closer to a ppg. Matheson just racking up the points.

Monty looks great, guhle had some nice plays.

    Newhook was a spark.

    Gignac is fast and engaged.

  15. nillabonilla

The last few breakaways in the 3rd down a man were brutal to have not scored on. Ah well, some bright spots and a loss for the tank is a pretty good result.

  16. IcyChard4

Our first line evidently IS the money line. Still a decent game despite the loss. 2 things I didn’t like:

    – RHP got injured. Let’s hope it is not serious
    – that was NOT a penalty against Jake Evans! Joe Pavelski selled that 2-minor to the refs. just to kill time

  17. alex1596

A good game. If we’re going to lose a loss like that is at least palatable

  18. OnlineEgg

i must say i’m loving gignac on the habs. super fast and wants to play the puck often, he’s been great positioning-wise too. i’m thoroughly impressed

  19. Mah0ngsh

Losing sucks, but we are still very much a rebuilding team, so I’ll take these losses any day of the week.

A strong, exciting showing against a very good team. If that RHP/Armia collision doesn’t happen it’s probably a win.

  20. realm_fury

Can’t complain about that game. PK was great, PP actually looking dangerous and Monty was great again. Suivant/Next!

  21. BelialHabs

Honestly, this is like the best outcome ever. The boys fought hard and we got closer to Celebrini.

  22. chewbaccard

It really sucks for RHP, his leg looked fucked. And for Armia too, what a freak accident 🙁

  23. CaloricRaptor33

Refs were on team tank, what can you do? If only Newhook had gotten a point, then it would’ve been the perfect rebuild game. See you tommorrow gentlemen, hopefully it’s going to be another #stiffweenieforcellebrini masterclass

    *BAD*

    – Not an overall bad game just a few breakdowns and collapses that eventually caused the Habs the game.

    – Players didn’t really stand out as being bad persay but a couple plays they have to be better on. Evans in particular is playing minutes above his head I get that but just don’t be a liability out there and I think today he was. Anderson continues to puzzle me as to what exactly he does out there generally. Ylonen isn’t it either.

    – Xhekaj seems to be timid a bit and struggling. Couple turnovers.

    – Momentum shifted once that collision happened between armia & rhp. Nobodies fault but man rhp a tough year.

    *GOOD*

    – Really strong game from Newhook in his first back. Created some chances and looked like he was close to getting one all game. All around solid.

    – Slafkovsky once again. The ability to roof that from that angle was exceptional. Everything about Slaf is coming along nicely.

    – Caufield 11 game point streak and what a pass to Suzuki on his goal. Also kept the play alive on Slaf goal.

    – Suzuki beauty shot. It’s a bit of a long shot I think but how nice would it be if he gets to PPG which we haven’t had since freaking Alexei Kovalev years ago. That streak needs to end!

    – Matheson smooth as heck out there. He’s a keeper for me yeah he turns it over and makes some bad reads but that’s a very unique defencemen.

    – Entertaining game.

  25. Mah0ngsh

11 game point streak aside, Caufield has looked like a COMPLETELY different player away from the puck. Very smart, shifty stick work, using his lower body strength to his advantage to win puck battles. Reading plays and intercepting pucks.

He’s never looked this good on both ends. Really love having a well-rounded offensive dynamo.

  26. Eazy3006

After seeing Caufield dance at the blue line, maybe he should be the quaterback on the PP 😂

  27. Longshanks123

Really liked Slafkovsky’s play toward the end to prevent the empty net goal. Used his body and strength to completely neutralize the Dallas forward on the boards, he’s a physical beast and you can’t teach size.

  28. joco_play

Gladly take the regulation loss to help the draft odds but my god were the last 7 minutes of the game complete horseshit from the officials.

Big ups on the top line though, hope they keep scoring every game win or loss.

  29. Pytlak9

Not to be negative but Suzuki needs to win some of these face offs.

  30. Everyone blaming the ref and no one pointing out the Oettinger did great vs a lot of breakaways. The boys did good, just not enough vs a top contender.

  31. reidk_97

PS the Laval game is on TSN2 right now

  32. PM-ME-PICSOFYOURDOG

Are refs allowed to retroactively hand out penalties? If they saw the high stick when it happened they should’ve whistled the play dead because Montreal had possession and had time to take a shot. After the scoring chance they went back and reviewed the replay.

So either they are inept at their job and didn’t whistle the play dead immediately as they should have, or they missed the call and used video to retroactive penalize Evans. Both are a bad look.

What would’ve happened if Montreal scored on that play? Would the goal have been called back? Imagine this was a meaningful game between two teams fighting for a wildcard spot. Bad bad look.

  33. Randomquestions12947

Was at the game. Some impressions:
    1. We actually have a first line. They are a threat to score.
    2. I’ve been a fan of Ylonen since the beginning of the season, and he didn’t play much tonight, but he is less impressive in person than on TV. Comes off as very weak physically. This can possibly be improved.
    3. Matheson had a good game but it seems like he mishandle as a faceoff every game and fails to hold the line. This happened in our final power play and killed that momentum and he did something similar in the final minute.
    4. PK looks less like Swiss cheese in person than on tv.
    5. Refs missed two really easy calls in the last ten. I thought we would have gotten one of them back after the Evans call, which was definitely a penalty but a harsh punishment given the lack of intent.
