  1. How about sorokin making a big save once in a while, this whole year he’s been letting in that one bad goal when we desperately need to save

  2. I only watched the highlights did not see the whole game, I hop this becomes trend 42-27, they kept the knights to 27 shots and landed 42, team is much more aggressive and we’re not living in our zone, give it time I’m expecting big things it’s going to take time for Roy to fix things, great show thank you Gil , LGI !!!

  3. Isles still a work in progress for st. roy. Bad-sorokin .889 sv. %. Good-pk perfect thru two games with sh goal. Outshoot more skilled vgk in un isle-like fashion 42-27. Very aggressive pushing the play. Roy will clean up d end, pk. Habs were schooled in that in the day. Gainey, Carbonneau, etc perfected that when roy arrived in hab land. Problem is roy will face the same problem as trotz. A flawed roster. Tighter d will cut down on offense. And isles don't have a big time offense. That is problematic for st. roy. Time for louzer to get off his old keister and get roy what he failed to do for trotz and lame-0. Get a big goal scorer. Habs won one year with a bunch of average scorers plus richer scoring 50 goals. Rare hab to do that.
And caps, wings, flyers lose. tb wins so isles still tied for 9th 2 pts out.
btw-st. roy leads all coaches in player rings, 4. No other coach with more than one. Tocchet, msl, brind'amour 1 each.

  4. I was almost ready to comment that I completely disagree with you until you started saying all the good things like the team was putting pressure on Vegas. They were putting a lot more pressure on the Vegas players in our D-zone, we were standing up at the blueline more, and stripping the puck away in the neutral zone. They played like a completely different team! I’ve never seen a team change how they play so quickly. Pelech turnover was bad, and that goal Ilya let in from that angle should have never happened. 3 more games of much better hockey to watch and as you said, after the all star break is when you’re going to see Pat’s system and changes made and that’s a good think. I don’t like losing, but a loss like that is easier to take because we were never out of the game. Since Pat’s arrival, it’s been the best two hockey games I’ve seen them play all season, last night being the best. I think if Sorokin doesn’t let in that goal from the left side on an impossible angle? Odds are we win. I’m very happy the way Pat is implementing his D-structure, his transition game and offensive pressure. I just went outside and had a cigarette and I was thinking about the situation with Reilly…. I think he’s really good hockey player and should playing in every single game. However, Buldoc is a good young player, We’ll see what Patrick does? I know he said he’s going to flip-flop them but I would think sooner rather than later he’s going to make a decision who will play every game and I can’t come up with an excuse to play Bolduc over Reilly. Bolduc is young, he’s going to be a good NHL defenseman but if we’re looking to win now? I can’t justify taking Reilly out at this point. In my opinion

  5. When you have losers like engvall, palmeri and lee in your top 6, the team simple isn’t good enough. The cowardly GM is too afraid to call up IShkakov, who earned a shot! I hate Lou.

  6. You must be pretty sick to give any contract to Mayfield… Wow the guy is total disaster, whit him on ice we are on trouble please let him go for NOTHING…

  7. its every night sorookin letting in a softie or two….dare we admit this. many nights he's left completely wide open nets and got lucky to boot. overworked and confidence waning, perhaps not 100%. and mayfield…thank god we locked this guy up to such a ridiculous contract…no one is a momentum killer like this guy. and pelech looks like utter shit

  8. Mayfield isn’t going anywhere for the time being, he has a NO Trade contract and I’m sure someone will bring up that #99 was traded so anyone can be traded, wrong ! Different time, different circumstances and different contract ! Lou never shoulda signed him long term, period. I’ve said for 2 seasons now that Pelech should be gone but he’s not going anywhere till 25-26 when his NTC opens to a LTC, basically we the fans are screwed ! As for the offense, Palmieri, Gautier, Lee, should take a seat and they should let the kids play, by the way, Aho does not belong in the starting lineup and Dobson needs a slap upside his head with the stupid passes ! I also think that some players are too scared to body check anyone, seems they have the mentality that if they don’t check anyone, they won’t be checked, wrong, if your not gonna use your body in this sport you don’t belong in the nhl, you don’t have to crush the other player but checking is a basic fundamental in this game.

  9. Hello Gil, I thought the islanders played an excellent game and looked like the old islanders with Barry Trotz.. they did make two mistakes and it cost them 2 goals and 1 soft goal from llya Sorokin 🎊 tomorrow should be nice for Patrick Roy in Canada 🇨🇦 i would think 🤔 they would do a video for him.. I like the new islanders lol UConn girls won again ❤

  10. Good morning team. Gil, thank you for what you do. Yes, I enjoy the podcast and look forward to it each week day. I hate when the team loses, but I have to say, except for a few mistakes, which ultimately ended up costing them the game, I enjoyed watching the team play and in my opinion, outplay Vegas for most of the game. I want to see that kind of play more often (all the time), with the mistakes minimized to a tolerable level. I hope to see Roy's system become 2nd nature to the team with each passing game. Finger crossed on making the playoffs and getting hot right at the start. Thanks again. Everyone have a great day! See you all tomorrow. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!

  11. UBS Arena yesterday did NOT even give 1 mention of Brock Nelson's Milestone! The live experience suppose to enhance the experience. But this just confirms why i prefer watching on TV.

  12. Gil, I’m late but I had to put in my 2 cents. I love this coaching change, you know I’ve been asking for it. Watching Roy as a kid, then his first stint in as a nhl coach and then the success in Jr’s, im all for it. Obviously they’re not going undefeated the rest of the way but IMO I see good things coming once everyone all settles in and the start of next season.

  13. The free flow of the first period hurt the Isles as no face offs in the D Zone. Pelach took a step backwards with that giveaway. Another prob I see is the top line can’t dump and chase and they can’t carry the puck into the zone very well either. It was the 4th line that caused that penalty and they pinned them on on the delay until they scored to tie it. Another bad goal from Sorokin…give Sorokin a rest. The ice was bad at the end of the first period you must dump it in every time. McLean gaining confidence. Nifty little backhand on that post that Horvat hit. Devs tied with Isles and Hughes is back. Roy needs to be thinking long term here because if they don’t get in they can look back at their 7 so far OT losses. Good to see Reilly back. Prob waited too long to make the switch. Rangers list to Sharks at end of long road trip. All other teams in conf lost again so still in it. Soft goals are killer.

  14. There was a lot to like about last night's game…we out-chanced Vegas in high danger shots 2:1. Our O zone possession time was also double that of Vegas. Unfortunately, some egregious turnovers and a bad goal by Sorokin did us in. At one point, we had allowed 3 goals on only 10 shots!!! But I guess it evens out, because the stats were reversed against Dallas yet we won that game. Overall, I like the energy level so far under Roy and if we continue to play like we did last night, we will win a lot more games than we lose. I like the direction of the team, I just hope its not too late to secure a playoff spot. We have a very small margin of error.

  15. Goat of the game is Mayfield guy has way too much plenty time its a constant thing with him over and over again they need to bench his ass

  16. Hi Gil .great show as always … ehy didnt they bench Aho instead? Bolduc is much better .mayfield staying consistsntly HORRIBLE . What are we gonna do with him ??he s done NOW how can we keep him 7 years more HOW????

  17. Gm Gil. The penalties have to get fixed. Mayfield needs to be sat down. The better team won. more turnovers after blind passes by Aho and others. I think Sorokin is burned out. I would like to see how this team performed without Lee, Mayfield, and Dobson on the ice.

  18. I agree with you Gil. The have been playing much better since game 1 with Roy. They will not & can not turn their play around in just a few games. Hopefully there is enough time for them to make the playoffs. If they continue to out shoot their opponents consistently they will win more games than they lose.

  19. Hi Gil!! Outshot Vegas, we outplayed Vegas—-we are playing better. However, some of these guys—Pellech, Mayfield and Martin are back and we’re losing. Gil, Roy has to see some of these guys giveaway pucks all the time. He will eventually put out the team that will help him win. It’s not Mayfield!! Decisions have to be made. Martin makes us slower and won’t be here next season. Roy can see this—-we all know this. He will ice the team that he feels can win hockey games. I know he let it go but Barzie can’t do that!! I guarantee—-he does it again—-he’s getting benched. Let’s give this a little time. No ground lost—-this is a learning process. Let’s get our coach 2 hugs points and make him proud—-especially against the Habs!! Take care Gil.

  20. I would love to see Holmstrom get a chance on the power play. He has a very good shot and hes a talented player.

  21. They haven’t won more than 2 games in a row the entire season. This is why the playoffs are a pipe dream. I’ve had it with Wahly. He’s another Bellows or DalColle. And this is why I sell my afternoon game tickets. Too many no shows.
