He confused Leaf fans and players with HOCKEY Players and fans.
Understandable if all he saw was Sportsnet.

Every team I’ve been on from the age of 11 onwards would act that way…including garbage beer league teams

What’s always confused me is the difference between a hit to the head and a punch to the head during a fight. A hit to the during play? This home out of the game!!! A punch to the head during a fight? Give that man a standing ovation!

Our team has no identity and because we have no sense of what kind of team we are, other than being the team with “The Core 4”… there’s a [whole upvote party](https://www.reddit.com/r/leafs/s/g8bKqMYPM3) over there where they’re celebrating a Bruins fan who agrees with the hit and they’re all saying… we should be like the Bruins. The Toronto Maple Leafs, are one of the most insecure teams in the league. It’s wild…

Blows my mind that people have such a hard time understanding why Rielly went after him

Hockey isnt as much about s culture of physical / mental toughness, more about honor / the code. Its honorable to risk / play through personal injury for the good of the team. Honor also requirers defending against insult. In this case, Reilly felt the team was greatly insulted and he stepped up to defend the teams honor.
Its unfortunate that his decision to go after Greig in that manner is going to hurt the team with his absence. Sometimes going after guys has future benefit – hand a guy a good beat down for running your goalie, next time maybe the guy (or others) doesn’t run the goalie. But in this case, the teams gain of some teammates additional buy in to defend the teams honor will be less than the loss of Reilly for however long he is suspended.
