Vesey’s had a tremendous season in his role. Probably is where he should be on a good team, but honestly think he’s worthy of another shot up the lineup.

Another goal for the 3rd line. I think Lav may have found something. The last few deep playoff runs this franchise has had have been powered by a 3rd line that can score a few. Cuylle’s had such a great year for a rookie and another huge goal tonight, but imo it’s great to see Brodzinski put up some points. Not sure he’ll be the guy come playoffs , but rewarding him with this chance after he’s been leading by example in Hartford these last number of years is how you run a meritocracy.

Was excited to see the PP units split up. It didn’t go well. Then PP1 was put back together and did even worse. Something is horribly wrong. Not enough effort to keep possession and way too much passing when they do have it.

Star of the game was Igor. Best he’s looked all season. Hopefully a sign of a strong 2nd half.

The team’s looked so much better defensively post all-star break. Tougher tests to come, but definitely looks like the ship has been righted. Keep it going!

    Igor, back?

3rd line AGAIN. You can’t shake this up, this is the exact type of line you need in the playoffs. Grinders with enough skill/grit combo to score those greasy goals in goalie duel games.

Keandres speed is something I’d like to see more than once every 15 games or so.

Mika was a beast tonight – set up what should have been like 3-4 assists and his back checking was prenominal. I’m sure Lav has told him multiple times, but it’s really time to drill it in, he needs to be more selfish.

Didn’t really get much of look at edstrom. He’s big, his stick checks have a large radius. 4th line was mostly quiet outside of getting caved in late in the 3rd.

I actually thought wheeler played well tonight, but I realllly think Vesey should get some 1st line minutes over wheeler – at least until the deadline when I’m sure they’ll make a move for a RWer.

Hats off to Markstrom, a studly performance, was fun to watch him.

Incoming 5 game shutout streak fir shesty

  4. Seeing Igor go for the goalie goal is the swagger and confidence I wanna see from him. Love it, and a great team win too.

  5. Clear_Willow3379

Still need to shoot more depsite Markstroms prowess tonight.

  6. Wesley__Willis

That’s the Igor that can carry a team wherever he wants it to go. Great to see.

  7. feedmekombucha

I don’t know about you, I’m just relaxing au naturel in my Russian King Igor Shesterkin Rangers Bed™️

  8. Great seeing Igor in form. Let’s hope that he can finish out the season the way we know he can.

Laffy could have had 5 goals tonight. Kid really needs to work on his shooting.

  9. elvista1991

IM HYPE! What a great game. Let’s keep it going!

  10. Humanaut93

I can’t believe it, they really don’t know. Someone get these fools an encyclopedia, tell them to go to « S » and read up on Shesterkin. Let them come to the realization that Igor is Him.

He’s fighting the cold war, making miracles like Him Craig. Got them questioning reality, like its a Himulation. Using his head like Himmy Neutron. Got them feeling Emo like Himmy Eat World.

This ain’t nothing to him man.

  11. langminer

How did the top lines look? Did they play as well as the highlights indicated (but was walled by Markström)? Did they play kreider-mika-wheeler+panarin-tro-laf all game?

    The Hork’s View from 222

    * Much livelier Rangers crowd tonight compared to last time. Not many vocal Calgary fans (they didn’t even **C** the **RED** in the anthem.)
    * Yo, this team though. I can say it now because the game is over but they played like they MEANT it tonight. Had a real good feeling the whole time.
    * No quit from the Flames either, they were chippy right from the start and Markstrom *earned* that third star. His glove hand was on absolute fire.
    * All the lines played solid. Edstrōm looked comfortable out there. Everyone was playing well. Even Zibanejad, though he only had 1 SOG, was playing noticably better. To me at least.
    * I was dead ass sure we’d see a full on fight tonight. With how chippy the game was, and hell when you get Artemi Panarin pissed enough to take a roughing minor, you *know* they’re feeling froggy.
    * Pospisil and Pachal make me think of another P word I won’t use in good mixed company. Suffice to say, they suck.
    * It sucked that Lafrenière got the extra penalty that made it a power play for Calgary (for the 20-30 second that lasted) but damn that pinch to the head was so worth it. I love Spicy Laffy.
    * The initial power play was good. I kinda liked the new mix, though Wheeler should not be on there. He looked bad to start the game, but did look better later on in the game.
    * Tonight the Cuylle jersey brought good luck. Kakko drove it in hard and Cuylle finished the job. I really like that third line.
    * Going back to the old PP1 in the third, though, holy shitballs that was probably the worst power kill we’ve had in a while that didn’t lead to a shorthanded goal. No mas por favor.
    * Himmy is him. Do not doubt the sickness of this individual, who can block clearing attempts out of the air and pot empty netters.
    * Igor did the work tonight. He is also him. 100% deserved the first star and played like the Igor of old. He almost got that empty netter, to boot!

    The Fun stuff:
    * Freebie of the night: Rangers Hyundai toque, just in time for tomorrow’s snow 🥶
    * Nice little « Welcome back Kevin Rooney » graphic. Not a whole big thing, but a nice gesture.
    * Kiss Cam: lots of smoochie smoochies.
    * Valentine’s Trivia: this couple knows each other and made $1000 for their Valentine’s dinner
    * Karaoke Cam: I Want It That Way. Now with prop microphones for select Rangers faithful!
    * First Intermission Junior Rangers: I believe it was the Blue goalie who had a phenomenal rush/poke check to stop one goal
    * Second Intermission 20-In-30, guy got I believe 15 goals from the blue line out of 30 shots taken, made like $650. Not bad at all! Much better than trying to hit the tiny hole from full ice for a car.
    * Pucks into the crowd: 3. Injuries: Thankfully looked like 0.
    * Dancing Larry: Missing in Action 🥺
    * Shout-out to my man driving the Sim33 who asked us on the stop how the game went and gave a good Let’s Go Rangers!

Final thoughts: I’m really not trying to get penisy, but goddamn this team tonight played like they MEANT it. I still think we should get someone to replace Wheeler for the the top line EW and make him the 13th forward, but he did the work tonight. If this is the way the Rangers play through the rest of the season and into the playoffs, I’m all aboard the hype train. Let’s. Fuckin’. Go.

  13. mookyyyy

Rangers and Knicks are incapable of being good at the same time I guess… Igor needed that so badly. Big confidence boost!

  14. Slugggo

You know what would be better than Igor scoring a goal tonight?

Igor scoring outdoors against the Fishsticks on Sunday. 😄

  15. Eire4ever

Cuylle and Kakko are wall monsters; get a solid 2way 3C and those boys will do some damage in 2nd season

EndStrom was steady; good positioning. Likes to scrape the wall; got into the scrum right away. Me likey.

  16. will122589

This was the get right game Igor has been looking for.

10 points out of a possible 10 points in 5 games is pretty prettay good

  17. BernieManhanders23

I’d like to see mika shoot the puck once when there’s a pass available. Otherwise great defensive game with plenty of o zone chances.

Tonight was an unbelievable goalie duel. On a night where both goalies were on fire, and one young buck, was cool enough the Flames couldn’t handle him. This episode of Rangers Hockey: *A Flaming Hot Shutout.* Tonight was a great team win. hear we go

1st Period: Honestly, both teams looked good. But Jacob Markstrom for the Flames, (who might have played his final game in a Flames sweater) was unbelievable. Glove Side Vally said. Well the Rangers were shooting too much to that side. The new PP units were meh at first. Will they return for the next game? who knows.

2nd Period: This period, the duel continued. Igor with the saves, the PK was amazing as well, but the line that was truly on FIRE, the Cuylle-Brodz-Kakko line. Kakko, using the body, driving the net battle in front of the net, only for the Cuylle’st guy on the ice, Will Cuylle using the body and getting the gwg. Unbelievable effort there.

3rd Period: Try breathing? Oh Man, Igor not one, but two Windmill saves. Too many rush chances back and forth. Great defensive stick play, laying the body out (I see you Schnieds), and all around effort from that Sick Individual into the empty net. Grinded it out.

Overall, Igor got his shutout, he made the Flames see a sea of Blue instead of C of Red. Laf looked good, everyone brought some jam tonight. Yes the PP can still be worked on. but save that for another game. Rangers Win! Winning streak up to 5. Onto the Habs

Rangers Oppie checked in said: « Hey Siri, play Ring of Fire to chirp the Flames! Oh and take in the sheets! Two points in the bag. »

    Onto the Habs… Thursday

God Save the King. Back afta dis.

  20. The0bst3r

I’m glad to see the team is defending well again but I don’t get how the powerplay went from elite to pathetic so quickly. It’s like they can only be good at one thing at a time… lol

  21. terithegreat

Markstrom stock after this game 📈

  22. Fancy_Combination436

Maybe im just biased cause I have a man-crush on Mika, but the 1st line looked great to me, they just frustratingly can’t seem to score. Also Wheeler really looked like he was on another gear.
