Bruh why did they need to show the Games stat when it literally says above that they’ve played 92 games? lol

Jesus there’s no way anyone actually thinks like this right?
Lafreniere is a much better player than Slafkovsky and I have never thought of him to be close to Jack Hughes.

Montreal fans are gonna be inconsolable when Slaf ends up as a perennial 40-50 point guy
CreateorWither
Ok I love Slaf but do not compare him to Hughes please. Hughes is on Superstar level and he hasn’t even peaked yet. Juraj is going to be excellent but Hughes might be top three in the league soon.

I want to see Slaf with a mullet

I feel like the hughes development path is just a normal development path. Crushing it as an 18 or 19 year old is the outlier.
PhilyJ
He will be better
ubcthrowaway-01
Ok but why did the use Hughes’ full name but only Slaf’s last name
AnxiousAstronaut
Jack whoghes?

One thing devils always said about Hughes even During this period was that even though he wasn’t putting up points he absolutely passed the eye test and showed huge promise. So points didn’t tell the whole story. Hans fans, how has Slafkofsky looked so far? I haven’t had much of a chance to watch him.

I swear I feel like Hughes has had 3x these goals. Only 14!?

The 2020-2023 lottery picks I feel have been judged too harshly by guys like Matthews Eichel and McDavid coming in to the NHL and being absolute studs right away. These guys lost key development time due to the pandemic and I think almost none of them were ready to be NHL players in their first year. I thought they all needed as much non-NHL playing experience as possible before being judged as a bust or not. I’m still not ready to count out Shane wright.

Slafkovsky will now be as good as Jack Hughes.

This feels like comparing a Rolls Royce to a Honda Civic.

I forgot that Hughes started off this slowly.
Anyway I’m not sure Slaf will ever be a 90+ point kind of player, but I am happy to see him getting better this season, and hoping his ceiling is a long way off. Once he starts to figure out how to use his size effectively he could be a monster.
Which reminds me: the last Habs 1st rd pick taken so high and getting to the NHL very young was Kotkaniemi so I decided to check how he was doing after his hot start this year. Holy smokes what happened to him? Is he playing hurt? 9G 9A in 52 GP after starting the season with 7G 7A in the first 20 games.

Hughes was also severely undersized compared to Slaf. That’s a massive factor not being considered in these stats.

Idk I’m just happy we picked slaf so they don’t get to both play for the devils. I’m still not 100% certain that habs didn’t pick slaf just to spite New Jersey, who could use a big winger in the pipeline.
Rattimus
You’re right, I should make a trade for Slaf in my fantasy keeper league….
drew_nelson4444
Are you saying the Hughes’ brother’s development plan or through 92 games,Slafkovski and Jack Hughes have comparable numbers?
Chewie_i
See this is why neither of them are generational. Only having 92 games each after 92 games just isn’t gonna cut it. McDavid had 107 games played after 92 games. That’s what makes McDavid great.

The Habs need this. They’re a team I’d like to see competitive again. Just from a historical point of view and also a Canadian point of view. French Canada has been a huge part of the NHL. They deserve to be competitive.
ToMuchCatNip
Good stats to have. He only caught up in the last month to.
That whole line is really clicking. Slaf has had a ton of scenarios where he is not on the scorecard but was pretty much a key factor in the goal being scored. He has been the 4th guy to touch the puck quite a bit.
Whatever Saint Louis did to motivate this kid worked. He is trying hard every game and improving like crazy. I like it!
When they are all on their game, This line of Suzuki, Caulfield and Slaf is pretty dangerous. When they get Lane Hutson up there on that line with Reinbacher it will be one of the sneakiest filthiest lines in the league. Some elite d-men will really improve Slaf’s game that much more. 😀
Habs have a bright future with this core if they can stay healthy.

Neither player really needed to be rushed into the NHL.

Sad grasping at straws.
