All I can say as a diehard since birth Canucks fan is please take us to the promised land, on a side note I’m sure most if not all Canucks fans really hasn’t let this hit them since this season was so unexpected and the lindholm trade was so odd for this fanbase to witness as we haven’t been bites in forever. Anyways I love the content especially when it’s about the Canucks!
I'm picking the Oilers as the best chance for the Cup to return to a Canadian based team. Few teams have ever won without prior playoff disappointment, and Vancouver hasn't had that with this group. They are an impressive team and should be considered contenders.
No. Every year a top team (like the Bruins last year with record wins) gets promptly knocked out of the playoffs. Remember the book 40 years ago – The Curse of the Canucks?
Just stick to the coaches plan and play your game.
Unpopular opinion I would like to see the lotto line reformed and Lindy centering the second line with Mikey and Suter
Don’t forget Soucy he’s legit. Third best defender on the team
Carson Soucy will round off the Canucks D when healthy.
how foookin canadian is this goof
The Canucks won’t make it past the first round. They don’t have the grit required for playoff hockey.
Vancouver will need to focus on the best lineup to beat Edmonton in the playoffs. No question they will need 4 solid lines to come out of this division.
It would be quite surprising if a team goes all the way the first time they're in contention. Normally, there will be be some bitter disappointments first. Look at Tampa, Colorado, Vegas… (edit: I forgot Boston)
First round exit is at least as likely as winning the cup.
im 24 now im a massive canucks fan and ive honestly been staying away from the stanley cup talk this season i just want to take the pkayoffs when they come one game at a time. Makes me very anxious to see what could happen come playoff time but im super excited for playoff action here in vancouver again. been far too long. go canucks go!
Cup favorites no chance. Cup contenders. Possibly. Let's not put the cart before the horse. One step at a time.
STOP JINXING IT
We have Carson Soucy as well on the blueline but hes out for another few weeks. He's been great. We actually have a monstrous bottom 4 on the blueline.
Theres something funny about the Flames and Canucks combining their power to try and beat the Oilers in the playoffs.
Carson Soucy is on that second D pair when he comes back from injury
They did add a D Zadorov was added not long ago
The canucks have been playing very well this season. However they have not been in the playoffs since 2019-2020 and this year will determine if they can handle playoff pressure. I think teams like the oilers and Winnipeg have more playoff experience.
no
0% chance this team has no playoff experience and they have a linear play-style of offense, they will run into the same problem the oilers had against the golden knights last yr, just watch
I think the top line is Hoglander-Petey-Lindholm
Not a chance. Only 3 regular playing Canadians in the line up and they haven't even played much. Ain't gonna do sh!t in the playoffs.
Watch out for the Riots!!! Van city gunna lose it if they lose again in the finals! I hope the Oilers jets or Canucks win this years its looking good unless the NHL is rigged
Yes because the team that wins the presidents trophy always goes on to win the cup…
Great rundown. The only thing that got missed is the fact that we still have Carson Soucy who will be back from injury in a few weeks.
If the Canucks add another top 6 forward, Mikheyev is the one who should be dropped to the 4th line, not Suter. There is a reason why Suter has the 4th highest ice time per game, amongst forwards on the team. The guy is very underrated…
They've been Cup favorites before and they lost in the final. So let's not get ahead ourselves and let the boys play.
As good as the 2010/11 Canucks were, I think this team is better suited for playoff hockey. I’ll never say anything bad about the Sedins, but I think the final round against Boston was out of their comfort zone physically. And I think Demko is a little more consistent than Luongo was
Id love to see them try to use Hoglander on that 2nd line, with better linemates he could start tearing it up
no the canucks are not Stanley cup favourites not gritty enough
I dunno, cap
Issues
I wouldnt sleep on the Canucks Defense, the names may not pop out to you, but they are definitely one of the hardest groups to play against because they constantly crush opponents on the ice.
You forgot about Carson soucey, he's awesome.
Us fans have been in the depths of despair for a decade. This has been a ling time coming, funny to see the bandwagon our hard on them.
Stanley Cup Favourites or Contenders, let's not jump at that yet…they have to be tested in the playoffs. But this team most definitely provides hope to the fans.
Canucks might as well pick up Ryan Graves at this point. Their D-core is essentially the 23-24 Norris runner-up and the 19-20 Colorado avalanche D-core.
No they are way too small and be out first round.
Switch Hoglander with Mikheyev
I’m so excited to see what the Canucks have in store for the NHL board for the next half of the 23-24 season.
No they are not the favourites . Las Vegas odds tells you
Let's see how Vancouver will do at the first round.and will see from there..no riots please if they win or lose.. it's a fun game.
You forgot soucy.
Stop jinxing them. FFS! We haven't played Boston. We haven't played the Avs. Played Vegas only once. Won't see Edm til the end of the year. Way too effing early bro! Way too early.
The Canucks have a Core 7 they need to have all resigned. Fill in the gabs with Podkolzin and Baines if you can't sign Joshua or Lafferty at reasonable contracts. But the core 7 needs to get locked up for multiple years if we want more than 1 crack at the cup.
Pettersson, Hughes, Demko, Miller, Boeser, Hronek and Lindholm. Lock those 7 up.
The next month of games will say a lot about "team toughness", for those of us who sometimes question it. I think we can all agree that is a very important part of a team in the playoffs.
Definitely can not be the Cup favorite without playoff experience. If you think you don't need playoff failures to figure it out, go back and look at the last 100 or so Cup winners and see how many exceptions there are to that rule. Having said that, I love this Canucks team. They are definitely built for the playoffs too. They're so good they may be the extreme exception to this rule – but that is for the Canucks to prove, you can't just anoint them Cup favorites without playoff experience. Personally I think Canucks will be Cup favorites NEXT year, along with the Oilers, who are also not winning the Cup this year, either, but thats a different debate.
