Listening to Common Man & T Bone recount all of the Jarmo missteps over the years has been pretty eye opening honestly. It’s embarrassing that he lasted 11 YEARS. Glad the FO finally took notice

It’s a somewhat new era in Columbus and I’m here for it. Newbie from England joining the Blue Jackets (and Bengals) fanbase. Super excited, see you guys around the sub.

As a Rangers fan and huge fan of JD …I can’t express my sympathy for your loss. Jarmo was a great GM. Covid destroyed you team and injuries plagued you last season. But the Babcock signing should have been the final nail for both him and JD.
Sadly, Jarmo couldn’t retain any of the talent he had acquired. How many years has your team been at or near the bottom of the cap? How many players was he just forced to let walk because the ownership group didn’t want to pay up? Or the players themselves just didn’t want to stay in Columbus?
I understand from a outside perspective this was the move to make, but I don’t see things getting better without Jarmo. A sign of a good GM is how well he does at trading. And how well he does at drafting. Jarmo has a excellent record in both those categories overall. All GMs miss here and there, all GMs overpay certain players, all GMs sign or fire coaches that probably weren’t the right move.
I am frightened if Jarmo ends up being hired by a big market team that can actually retain the talent that he drafts and trades for. I would love it if we fired Drury and hired him this offseason. But I also understand most or some of the people who might be happy to see him gone as it is time for a change.
