@Maple Leafs de Toronto

[Jonas Siegel] Auston Matthews n’est qu’à 76 buts de rattraper Mats Sundin pour le record de buts de la franchise des Maple Leafs. Il a disputé 449 matchs de moins que Sundin jusqu’à présent.

Dude realized he hadn’t scored in a while so took 7 mins out of his day to nab 3 quick ones.

  2. leafer89

That’s 14g pace per season to catch him in the same amount of games lol

  3. Syn3rgetic

Looking at the way things are going, he might break it next season.

  4. Syntactical

Assuming he finishes this year with 70, he could conceivably catch Sundin next year, needing to get 51 more goals to tie.

  5. Big_Albatross_3050

He took those goal drought allegations personally lmao

  6. silentswift7

This is absurd, Papi going down at the leafs goat if he can get to even a conference final.

  7. Mrfantastic2

Ridiculous lol hes the best goal scorer we’ve ever had

It’s shame the core wouldn’t even take 1 mil less each (minus Reilly)

Leafs are wasting this man prime years

Does anyone know how to normalize for linemates like hoglund?

  10. Infinite_Physics220

    Sundin has 521 more assists

Goals mean nothing if you cant win 2 games in the second round.

This is going to be a crazy take on reddit, but winning matters more than goals and points. Is winning the only thing that matters no, but i want to hear nothing about these comparisons until matthews leads the team to a deep playoff run.

Dudes 1000% probably the best player skill wise we’ve ever had, id still rather have sundin.

What still really impresses me just as much is if Matthews can score now 18 more goals this season, which has decent probability, he will have more goals than any other player cumulative since 2015-2016 (a year before he started).

Sundin played during the dead puck era, so the amount of games obviously would favour Matthews.

That said, having watched the entire Sundin era and now watching the Matthews era, Matthews is the most dominant player I’ve ever seen.

  14. Guys a machine what can you say.. will be one of the greatest scorers when it’s all said and done.

  15. TheHobo

He’ll be under 30, (Canucks legend) Mats was 38 when he retired.

Dude scored 40 last year with one wrist and people were talking about him like he fell off. He’s the GLOAT.
