Huge first followed by a brutal second; pretty wild how many games this year that could summarize lol, though this one had the fun of also having a rough third
Not gonna dwell on the loss, they’re a much better team and we got the scoring for me to be happy. I can’t give enough praise for Slaf. I’ve been rooting for this guy since the draft but I didn’t think he’d explode like this so early.
I do think the points might slow down, but the fact that he’s capable of having a run like this at this age has my hopes sky-high. His rate of improvement is actually disgusting, I can’t believe how quickly he adds new things to his toolkit and then executes them seamlessly.
Matheson continues to have these baffling moments where he picks a more difficult option rather than passing to the wide-open Slaf. Not to harp on this too much, I know it’s been talked about a lot, but his distribution style on the powerplay really bothers me.
Fuck chris kreider
Don’t care Slafcoleski going strong babyyyyy
En 25 parties
Suzuki : 11 buts, 18 passes, 29 points
Caufield : 12 buts, 13 passes, 25 points
Slafkovsky : 10 buts, 12 passes, 22 points
I’m so proud of them
Feels good even if we lose.
Slaf continues his heater, Cole had a 3 point night
Fine with this all things considered. Team didn’t quit after that horror stretch in the 2nd
Easily kovacevics worst game as a hab. Entire defence looked off and bad…
Hes def rusty and needs to get his legs under him, but Ive found newhook to be meh since returning.
Slafkovsky, what more can you say
that first line is looking fire, man it feels nice to have good young players for once
Des matchs de même, y’en aura, de temps en temps
Nickolaj stays hot, I’m happy
Slaf just looks so comfortable with the puck now, not rushing or scared to have the puck, just calm and making smart plays
amazing to see the progression
Gally is done,
Anderson is done,
Matheson is either prime Karlsson or Hall Gill,
Kovy with the worst game of his career,
Arber is lost,
Kayden is lost,
Monty half awake,
Marty with the incredible decisions on that call,
excellent game from the first line.
I’m fucking angry yes
How do we get rid of Gallagher and when can we do it
Really, nothing to be embarrassed about. Rangers are a very good team. Habs tried to keep up with them, *it’s just like the Rangers are the better team* and I don’t feel like they were that outplayed.
Anyway,
FUCK CHRIS KREIDER
Platonic ideal of a great tank game. Points from the first line, Slaf is a monster, and Caufield gets hot again. This is the way for the next 28 games!!
I don’t know about you, but I enjoyed the first half of that game more than the second.
3 points for Caufield and 2 for Slafkovsky, pretty sweet. And Suzuki belatedly got one as well.
Honestly, others on the team could have had a few more goals there, but Quicky played well. All the same, you shouldn’t be allowing 7 goals.
Don’t let the results of this game distract you from the fact that Slaf has 12 GOALS ON THE SEASON
Can we trade Anderson for a bag of pucks and an orange pylon?
*BAD*
– Sometimes things are simple look at the Habs roster after the top line. There is not much if anything there, not hyperbole.
– Roster, glaring rebuild aside, teams still shouldn’t routinely give up touchdowns. I get it like I said they don’t have the men yet but still.
– I mean the expectations are on the floor but watching both Gallagher & Anderson with that money is not good to say the least.
– The defense was just Uber soft all around. A little more toughness some of those goals don’t go. However, the player who brings the toughness at the back Xhekaj, has not looked good since the AHL stint.
– Monty was not good tonight.
– Kreider Hatty. Habs moment.
*GOOD*
– I don’t really need to elaborate much more than what is already being said regarding Slafkovsky. A big big part going into this year was getting the first overall pick going and he has surpassed that with flying colours. Stud.
– Suzuki rager of a streak continues. What is it 15 in 9. Stud.
– Caufield with 2 and an assist. Completing the top line onslaught of perfect hockey lately. Stud.
– Evans got one again. Some semblance of secondary scoring would be nice.
– Really good first period.
We finally have a first line. Unfortunately, that is all we have. On the positive, MUCH easier to build around.
2nd sucked but we stayed with a better team. Nice to see Cole get on the board. We need more of that!
Onto the Caps and watch Ovi get a hatty.
When will this sun admit that Montembault is not him
A hot goalie and we win that one.
So, Team is coming along but we’ve got to deal with some of the baggage we’re carrying.
(Oh and need some sort of shake up with defence training or coaching.)
good game for the tank. double cole goals, suzuki and slaf continue their point streaks, and we outshot a contender. anderson’s line was looking good tn, lots of great chances. i hope they keep that line together and they should start producing some of that much needed offence. defence was rough tonight but they’re still young and learning. not a bad game for a rebuilding team, GHG
2 touchdowns against in less than a week isn’t great, but at least this one wasn’t as brutal as Sunday’s game. 3 goals from the top line is always fun.
We are here for our big 3 and we know it
That 4 minute stretch of 4 rangers goals in the 2nd was tough to watch. Let that game slip away in a couple shifts. Even Strength, Shorty, Power Play. Scored every way quickly.
Despite the loss, I’m so proud of our team.
The first line has stepped-up, they’re playing 20+ mins a game.
The supporting cast who showed up tonight: Evans, Matheson, and Newhook.
A decent performance by Struble. The rest? Hmm…!! I’m not so sure.
And yes…
FUCK CHRIS KREIDER!
Okay so a few takeaways, hear me out. Overall not the worst tank game; Slaf with 2 points, Caufield with 3, and lost mostly because Monty has a bad game, whatever it happens.
I’m going to say that Caufield’s shoulder injury was an opportunity for him to reinvent his game to become more well rounded which he has done beautifully. We may look back on that injury as a “good thing” for Caufield’s development as weird as that sounds.
Suzuki is a PPG player as soon as this team is no longer garbage. He is among the 32 best centers in this league. However I continue to believe that he is a 2nd line C on a cup winning team. Prime Suzuki may be the 1st C on a contender, but not on a winner
Slaf…my god boys. Just a complete beast. Prime Slaf will be as good as he wants to be.
Xhekaj – I want him on this team. I don’t care about the mistakes, I trust that he will continue to improve. He’s the type of player you need during the playoffs. Give him time.
No concerns for the rest of the D given their age.
The rest of the forward group other than Newhook is…ouf. I really really miss Dach
If Anderson was anyone else he would have had at least two goals. He had at least 4 prime scoring chances.
I was right about Slaf and you all were wrong idc
Might be the best game I’ve seen from Anderson this season. That line with Evans and Pearson was surprisingly creating offense which was nice to see
