   Per the comments, the big hurdle with Markstrom is how much salary Calgary should retain and what that’ll cost us in assets. We’re also still actively asking about Gibson, Saros, and Jake Allen.

   Saros is the only answer. If the devils are going to give up a blue chip, they have to get a goalie with longevity that matches the roster.

   I get the reservations on Markstrom re: age and salary but if Hanafin is included in this there won’t be many packages from our end that I’d say no to.

   If we give up Holtz or Dawson for Markstrom in any capacity I’ll be furious. I’m not interested in giving anything major up this season, if we make a run that’s great, if not it wasn’t worth losing that much.

   I’d give up Holtz if Hanifin were part of the deal. Wouldn’t hesitate.

   I would like to politely but firmly ask the rumor mill to leave us alone

   It’s at the point even if it gets done, it might actually be too late to salvage the season. Devils would need to rely on luck and other teams losing out at this point in addition to playing well, and the Devils haven’t had good luck this year
