I like how the Predators had their worst loss at home literally ever. In response to that they said « you know what, we need two more years of Michael McCarron. That’s what we should do in response »

I didn’t see him play last night, and I like the idea of big sexy, but I don’t see him doing anything Sissons doesn’t do or what another grinder won’t do. Not a fan of this signing.

Weird signing
Maybe it’s a bargain for a 4th-liner with 3rd-liner upside?
Bkoster85
This by itself shouldn’t be overanalyzed but if Trotz doesn’t sell hard goodbye any faith in him lol. His signings were good but we just can’t keep doing this it’s been 5 years since they were even real contenders
Anddd 10 years since they’ve even had a top 10 pick

There are only so many bottom 6 minutes to go around for our top prospects. This move a head scratcher. /s

But why though?

I mean I have nothing against McCarron hes a fine 4th line/13th forward but like its just feels odd he keeps coming back every year
TheKid_BigE
Meh. Like I can understand we need some grit but we can’t just have all our young guys sitting in the minors waiting to play big league minutes for years on end while we sign aging bottom six guys who are taking away valuable development from the kids who will help to build the future of the team

I mean he’s having his best season I guess and is a perfectly fine 4th liner. However, we have way too many bottom 6 players so I’m curious to see if this means we’re gonna let some of the other guys go over him. Smith/Sissons/McCarron would actually be a respectable 3rd/4th line if we had a top 6 that actually scored

That will fix it

I like him as 4th line center. I get the argument that we should be playing the prospects but would we be playing those prospects at 4th line center? Honest question.

Yeah let’s just add to the logjam

Meh, I mean a least a couple of our average players have to stick around, every team has average players. As long as they aren’t overpaid, we’re fine. I kinda just see this as him “making the cut” in terms of bottom six. As long as decisions are made with some other players crowding that space, I think this is a fine signing. Tbh I like the guy a lot and even outside his play I like the energy that he brings to the team.

Big Sexy is a decent enough 4th liner that can play 3rd in a pinch and will throw hands. I’m fine keeping him around for that purpose. Might as well keep the devil you know for those roles versus getting others for cheap.
tbiblaine23
I’m confused as to how this is the first move after the worst loss at home ever
Comfortable-Tell-323
To me this looks like Trenin and Sissons are on the trade block. They’ve got more value to other teams than Mccarron and Smith being older with more experience. Essentially he has to dump some role players. If he comes out before the deadline and extends Sherwood Jankowski and Gurianov we’ve got major issues.

There are a lot of free agents this year. I think they’re making their choices to clear up the log Jam of grinders at the deadline.

Nothing wrong with this if you take away the larger context of the season. McCarron is fine at $900k and Smith is fine at $1m. Both were UFAs, might as well lock them in now.
Not going to get all worked up about stuff like this until we have hindsight from the trade deadline. Last season, Poile didn’t start selling off until 2/25. Still have some time to lock in the guys you want to keep before you get out the flame thrower.
Reminds me of when the Preds announce they’re signing some AHL depth player and everyone spams « who??? Announce Zegras » in the comments.

What the hell are they doing
