The Knights are hated because everyone thought the Vegas experiment would fail but not only has Las Vegas embraced the team and built a supportive fanbase, but the team has been super good. So the average Canadian hockey fan has to face reality that Gary Bettman’s pet project has been an incredible success in every way possible… and that infuriates the core fanbase to no end.

I think people hate Vegas because all of the expansion rules were changed for them to be really good and relevant right away, granted McPhee also did a great job compared to the likes of Seattle. Also everything about them, to me, seems gimmicky

Their management has been treating players terribly with no concept of loyalty or respect.
Vegas’ entry into the league coincided with the rise of sports bettor cartels infesting every single facet of the game while officiating has noticibly dropped in quality with little accountability or public scrutiny and people associate – consciously or unconsciously – Vegas with erosion in the League’s integrity.
