We have the worst Leaf GM ever to thank for this. Dubas absolutely plundered picks and prospects year after year for rentals the team couldn't afford to keep because Dubas blew 50% of the entire budget on 4 top shelf offensive forwards foolishly thinking a team in today's NHL can outscore other teams. So, now Treliving is being attacked for not pulling the trigger, when Dubas left NOTHING to bargain and negotiate with because Dubas had zero concept related to "negotiations", why negotiate when you can simply give players exactly what they wanted plus more!!
Why "plus more"? If Dubas understood how ALL negotiations worked, he would have understood the player's agent ALWAYS overinflate their client's value, knowing the team/GM will counter with a low ball number, and negotiations carry on with this back and forth until both sides feels good about the final offer.
Dubas had virtually zero negotiation skill, and as such he bankrupted picks and prospects like a drunken sailor on shore leave in Bangkok!
Now, because of Dubas' incompetence, some fans, especially those who have no interested in understanding that part of the game, their only consideration is players who don't score two goals a period suck!
So, now uninformed fans are attacking Treliving because "HE NEEDS TO MAKE TRADES"!! These fans have no understand that in order to trade you need SOMETHING TO TRADE WITH!
These are the clown town armchair apprentices who think they could do a better job that an experienced team GM and all their trade suggestions ARE RETARDED!! They believe other teams are just desperate to trade away their very best players for Leafs garbage!! ULTRA MAROONS! ")

Andrew, love your vid’s on the Leafs. I know in your video how you mentioned Reilly is a lock To be on the team next year, I assume that’s mostly due to the fact that he signed until 2029 or 2030 Probably has a no trade clause like everybody else on the team, however Despite Riley being, Perhaps the best of the bunch on defence, That’s not really saying a whole lot for a team with aspirations of the semifinals or finals or a cup victory,
Reilly earns 70% of what Nylander will make and What Marner and Tavares make, and it’s likely the Leafs will go 5 and 0 in his absence.
And, as shocking as that might be to some it is because his assists and mostly secondary assists Impact the leafs offense, very marginally.
I’m totally discounting the flip shots/screen shots lucky goals because in my personal opinion this team doesn’t require his services at his cap hit.
He is very average defensively, His good Speed mix up some of those flaws Or he’d be well below average In comparison to the first line defenders. The Islanders ate him for breakfast, Matthew Thachuk, Kucherov and 1st liners of that caliber must be happy to face him…
I know it’s off the radar opinion but I’m hoping by the time the suspension is over it might become more obvious.

Nick Kyproes, on his show Mentioned how Riley is frustrated at the team, And that’s why he took that cross check, But I don’t see it that way at all. Reilly is frustrated with himself, Because he knows once the forwards secure a lead or tie the game he can’t Do anything defensively to prevent the counterattack
He crosschecked the Islanders forward similarly after the he help the Leafs concede the winner on the Island (watch the replay) .

The Leafs sink all of Bertuzzi’s wasted cap space, Brodie and Gio’s expiring cap space and quite frankly Reilly’s as well unless Tavares just walks and we play Morgan in a 2nd pair role or something he can handle a little better.
