I’m definitely going to be bummed to see him go, but I get it. Crazy how different a team can be in just 3 years.

Good riddance. Start the rebuild. Tired of having Americans who don’t want to be here.

  3. SpitfireFan

Wanted to keep him but could see this coming. If he wanted to stay he would have signed at the all-star break.

Worst kept secret has been confirmed

Hanifins Good buddy’s Tkachuk and Bennett playing for Florida Panthers. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Panthers put an offer in for him.

I was on the side of trying to make the playoffs. However, they have a weak record despite having elite goal tending.

It’s a sellers market and I’m fully onboard with the Flames selling Hanifin and Tanev. If the price is right I don’t mind them trading Markstrom at this point either.

  7. With the lindholm trade I’m not worried about Conny getting a good return, but yall acting like this is a surprise

Why are people so shocked? I saw this coming a mile away. Face the facts. If all the fake fans want to stop watching the team because they won’t be “competitive” then y’all can fuck off. I’m supporting this team day in and day out no matter the status

We are in a retool. Things are going to get ugly. But it’s all part of the process. It’s an amazing opportunity for Conny to build for the future

Yeah, this has been obvious since no extension was announced. Flames will get a good return.

    I’m excited about the change

Hit trade market… How is this a post, he’s a UFA he’s been on it for the season

I wonder if Conroy let’s Hanifin’s agent talk to teams to see if there’s someone he would sign an extension with? If a team knows they’re getting a player willing to sign long term with them they may be willing to give up more in a trade.

Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out.

Also, the grass is green, the sky is blue and ice is slippery.

  14. I hope Conroy sprinkles new found nastiness into the Flames.

I have cheered for the Flames since the 80’s. I don’t recall a Flames roster full of uninspired players who are so well-versed BS’ing loss cliches in front of the media.

Anyone surprised? He was offered an actually crazy deal and didn’t sign it immediately. He wasn’t staying.

I’ll be really curious to see what he signs for elsewhere. I reckon he fumbled the bag a bit here – the rumoured contract was huge.

Hanifin will never be a game-breaker, but would be a solid piece for a playoff team. Who needs D? Tampa, Toronto? Fingers crossed for a bidding war!
