these past handful of games is the canucks I expected before the season started. long stretch of playing solid hockey, mixed in with bone head plays, questionable losses, shitty reffing, and a lack of puck luck when needed.
making the playoffs was my expectations and we have been punching way above that. hopefully, this is just a blip in the schedule.
The team’s first « slump »!
The schedule makers wanted the Canucks to lose tonight and they got their wish.
It have been a few weird games after we trade kuzy
We lost three in a row. Ok so what. You know who else has lost 3 in a row? Every other team in this league. It happens. As long as they learn and start scoring…if not then panic.
Honestly they played pretty well. No bounces. You gotta get a taste of bitter defeat or else you won’t know how to handle it and rise up to the occasion. Better to feel like this now and then peak going into playoffs. They also gotta maintain their intensity and make better plays, not complain to the refs because Sports Interaction, your home grown Sports book.
Here are all the bandwagons coming in
why don’t we change the pp groupings?? what’s the worst that could happen it’s already not working
As good of a loss on a B2B as you can hope for. I thought Vancouver was better 5 on 5. Shitty that bad bounces are bunching up right now. That combined with shitty officiating has made the the last 3 games frustrating
3 things we need to fix
– Make Lindholm and Boeser relevant on the Powerplay somehow
– Failed Zone exits led to two goals today, that was a big improvement of this team early on this year
– The 4th line is completely irrelevant and mostly a liability
The PP formation of Hughes at the point, Miller & Petey on their respective sides, Lindholm bumper & Boeser netfront seems pretty intuitive but I’m kinda shocked at how insistent they are at changing it up since we got Lindholm.
Despite not scoring I thought there was a lot more movement and scoring chances when the PP ran through Miller. Having Petey netfront is a waste of his abilities, but the PP shouldn’t run through him either. Get it back to what’s worked
Starting to the hate the all star break, leafs fans did some bad juju in that arena on us
It’s a slump. Still believe in this team 100%, and just because we lose 3 in a row doesn’t make us bad. We put up a good fight, especially since it was a back to back. I’m just ready to move on and I’m also excited for more canucks hockey.
(Bains played a good game tonight too!)
Go Canucks go!
Losing 3 in a row doesn’t bother me but I hate how we routinely lose to teams like Avs/VGK/Bruins/Jets
Just a few hiccups. Once Soucy and Joshua (our 2 most underrated players, imo) are back, we’ll be unstoppable again. We’re still 1st. Better to get the kinks out now. Also, Hughes looks tired. Boston’s gonna be fun!
Brock’s offence as dried up. 12 points in his last 17 looks alright but all those points came in 5 of the games. They need something more from him, especially at 5v5. Can’t have a guy in your top 6 basically having two 6 game pointless streaks.
One more positive note for other copers like me: the defence has been the backbone of our season this year and it was pretty good again tonight. Both goals against were pretty tough bounces and the mackinnon line was held scoreless and fairly quiet all night.
Played well enough tonight and against the Jets to win. Shitty game in Minnesota dealing with all those penalties.
We lost 3 in a row but these weren’t “ok I’m worried about this team” type losses.
Edit: except the PP still needs a lot of work.
Scratch Mik next game, please. Give Bains another look.
This losing skid is what the boys needed. Builds chemistry, great to be doing this with Lindy and Zaddy.
These three games have been confirmation of Joshua and Soucy’s importance to this team. The only players I’d prioritize resigning over Joshua would be Petey and Hronek.
Petey has to show us who is here and into the playoffs. Not showing up on the PP is not 12 million dollar worthy
Send out the doubt squad lol
still 10 points ahead of Vegas who down 4-1….
I’m ready for another trade. Team is still missing something.
let’s refocus on the refs and them ignoring the glaringly obvious dive with 3.5m left
If you just look at this loss itself without looking at the two Ls beforehand, the canucks played a decent game against the avalanche. Avalanche got two good bounces but the canucks failed to convert on their high danger chances (ex: suter chances and lindholm chances)
The powerplay needs some major surgery as they do not look threatening at all. Avalanche are a fast and skilled team which the canucks of past have struggled with and still do to an extent but the team still had good chances.
I feel like the canucks don’t have enough players with SKILL and SPEED in their lineup but their hard work and structure has won them games and kept them in games. Not sure if seattle is a must win or else it might turn into a five game losing streak against Boston.
So we’re in a funk, great. Not the end of the world. Chin up people, still 1st in the league. They need to fix the special teams. And Mikheyev has to do something more.
Who knew Dakota Joshua was our secret weapon?
I was at the game, few observations. Mikhy honestly looked ok besides the turnover that led to the first goal. Reffing was suspect yet again as I could literally hear Quinn get slashed on the shin pads across the rink when he was trying to drive the net from the blue line. Petey completely disappears at points. He plays unbelievable for a few shifts then you’ll hardly notice him. Ian Cole looks slow as hell and deserves to watch a few games from the press box.
Emotionally, three consecutive games where the special teams are bad and we lose in the third period reminds me a lot of last year. It’s very frustrating.
But objectively, eh. It happens.
Rick Tocchet needs to take himself off of the powerplay duties. Change the voice
Way too many comments saying the 3 losses is because Joshua is out of the lineup. Hate to break it to you, but if losing a bottom six forward has this much of an impact on you, then you’re not ready for the playoffs. Powerplay has also been dog shit for several weeks now and our top 6 hasn’t come up big for us.
Hey remember when the oilers said cup or bust lmao
For all the talk about how Petey is soft and flops, what’s everyone elses excuse when he was the only guy in the third that was taking the puck net front while everyone else was happy to pass it around the boards until they turned it over?
4-5 times in the third he was the only guy who generated a chance by getting the puck inside the hashmarks because he just dogged it in there himself and created some havoc.
I thought Bains played well, but the best compliment you could give him is that the Avs were matching their 1st unit against Garland/Blueger/Bains all night and Tocchet kept him on that line in the 3rd.
Losses suck but I’m not too mad about this one, in my opinion we outplayed a good avs team on a back to back in their rink where they were 12-1 in their last 13, and it would’ve been a different game if a couple of their lucky bounces went our way instead. Time to move on and get our PP rolling cause we’re still playing solid 5 on 5 hockey
Yo Bains is pretty good
I still cannot fucking fathom why Hronek wound up for a clap bomb there. Just catch and release my boy, not tickle the sky with that stick
I’m ok with 2nd in the conference and an early playoff exit 👍🏼
Tocchet bursting into Abby
“Vancouver calls for aid!”
Canucks are 2-3 since that idiot dropped his dumb Tocchet song, I’m blaming him.
Way she fkn goes
Mack with a cool 10 shots on goal on his own
