Was the lines last game too just weren’t updated for some reason on sites. That’s how they ran the entire game.

  2. Biologyboii

He’s suited for the checking line at this ppint

Reaves back in the doghouse for that penalty, as he should be

Love the inclusion of the cactus emojis 🙂

I’m the only one kinda tired of people calling it a “third line” because he’s slotted there?

Like I remember when Nylander got put there a few years back to try and balance the lines and people kicked up about him being on the third line when his ice time stayed the same.

Like Vegas last year technically had Mark Stone on the “third line” in warm up lines and Michael Amadio on the second line but Stone stilled played 18 to 20 and Amadio 11 to 13. Is Stone now bottom six and Amadio top six?

All they’re doing is trying to balance it out and all that really matters is ice time.

This will be the lineup as long as they are winning. Once they lose one game he will go back to tried and true.

Hell if they’re losing a game in the 2nd period he’ll probably go back then.

It’s exactly what we’ve been asking for.

Domi is just too good to be left on the 3rd line. Giving him 2C duties and more time with shoot first guys like Willy is exactly what the team needs. Even if Tavares is an 11 mill contract, Keefe can’t keep throwing him out as the 2C when his legs sometimes can’t keep up with the opposing top lines. Plus it’s not really much of a demotion considering he’s basically gone from 2a to 2b

i think Kampf on third line would be much better and Reaves on 4 line, we need his present in the game.

  10. rhoderage1

I was curious if we would play Jones tonight and Sammy tomorrow

Think Sammy gets back to back? Does Jones start versus Vegas?

  11. Love this, Robertson is weak on boards and Tavares is king. I hope they find some chemistry and score some big goals. We need to spread the talent so, we got an elite forward on ice all times. Top line can take the tough match ups, Nylander is taken the step to carry his own line with guys like bertuzzi and Domi. This is what worked for Babcock, and loading up lines can be done when we need a goal.

I like it. JT has shown he can work with grinders in the last. Domi has been misused all year. I think you give this a try and see what it can do. Run 3 offensive lines.

  13. aboutahorse

This is interesting because is gives all 3 lines a similar structure to follow for primary roles.
Board battles/Netfront : Knies, Bert, JT
    Primary Threat: Matthews, Nylander, Robertson
Set up/Secondary Threat: Marner, Domi, McMann

Not that these roles are exclusive but that’s sort of the structure I see from this.

  14. Falconflyer75

Frankly it’s probably better they spread the elite players over a few lines and balance them out

Getting elitist over line numbers is dumb (you’re all on the same team)

All the talk of “we need depth” …. Agreed to get that u need to develop it

We cannot have all the star players on one line in the playoffs because they rarely if ever fight, they need to play with players willing to throw a punch or it’s gonna be the Panthers series all over again

  15. Drew_You_To_91

I mean I understand that you give the guy who’s playing better more minutes but is Tavares gonna bump his slump without Willy on his line? I feel like at some point we gotta try to get him going.

  16. No_Frosting4529

I kinda like these lines. Tavares playing on the third line really spaces the team out.

Once Reilly is back playing… you just need two more D man, a starting goalie and a center and you’ll make it out of the second round… maybe… lol

  17. reggierock2010

Not gonna lie that third line is kinda dope lol

  18. Rowdy_Roddy96

I prayed for moments like this. I’ve been saying play JT as 3C for time now.

  19. CdnRageBear

I actually really like the Tavares line.

  20. Slow-Juice-7257

Well see if keefe reverts back after the first period lol

  21. sadleafsfan8834

Excellent. Hopefully he’s still off PP1 too

  22. boredinthebathroom

Might be because of his injury, slowly get him back in 🤷‍♂️

  23. ptgrvmrdrdjhnsn

Is it Tavares on the 3rd line, or actually Nylander on the third line?

McMann > Bertuzzi imo, so I’m gonna go with the latter.

  24. mattfromjoisey

Tavares with two young, fast, and hungry wingers? Sign me the fuck up

  25. sokocanuck

This isn’t a demotion. That’s one elite first line and two excellent 2nd lines.

One of the biggest issues the Leafs have had is not spreading the talent out enough, which leads to playoff opponents throwing everything at the top to lines, effectively shutting them down.

JT abso-fucking-lutely needs to carry his own line if this team is going to have any success.

I hope this is a sign that Keefe is pulling his head out of his ass with enough runway before the playoffs and not just a situational bandaid

  26. Derfchg

This could work. McMann and Robertson could help dig the puck out for JT.
