All things must come to end. Kane will always be a legend in Chicago and now we have a new potential legend to be excited for.

I love Kane. I wouldve liked to see Kane and Toews in the sweater forever. That said you cant « reset » the organization and keep someone like him around, it just doesnt work. They were clear with their goals and did what they had to for the future, as painful as that is.

I will never understand the Hawks “fans” who are happy Kaner is out. As if somehow Kane would stunt Bedard’s growth, but Cory Perry wouldn’t. I’m sure Conner would suffer greatly from having a winger who can both finish and pass as effectively as Kane. /s

It was for the better. It was time. He was for sure HOF player rotting away on a team that wouldn’t see success until long after he retires. He is in his final few seasons as an NHL player. He was major cap space for a team trying to rebuild. To be completely honest, wish it would have happened a few seasons earlier. I love Kane and we owe him everything for all he’s done for the organization. He will forever be a Blackhawk. But he needed to move on 2-3 seasons earlier. For him and his success.

Happy to have had him to begin with. One of the best in a generation!

Still makes no sense why they wouldn’t want him around Bedard. The only other 1st overall pick in franchise history, and a guy that’s won everything as a Blackhawk to learn from.
The idea that Bedard would be intimidated or defer to Kane on the ice is absurd. Kane himself even said in an interview last year that Bedard was looking off McDavid on rushes at the BioSteel camp when he was 17

If I could respond to him personally, I’d say:
Rest assured Kaner, you and Johnny will have a statue in front of the United Center forever when you’re ready to hang up the skates.
Thank you for everything ❤️

Yeah I like what davidson has done so far but can we not pretend trading Kane away wasn’t a mistake

No clue why people think Kane would’ve demanded a win now situation and not just have slid in on bedards wing. Kid would’ve broken 100 points this year if kaner was still on this shit team.

Lucky guy got to play in Chicago AND NYC.
Some guys have to live in Winnipeg

This was all known last year.

Even though Kaner had nothing to do with it, I think the scandal and being able to say « all members of the organization from that time are no longer with us » played a big part in him not being here anymore.

I go back and forth with this. it’s all hypothetical at this point but who knows if the Hawks would’ve gotten Bedard if Kane never got traded (he tore it up like the week before he got traded and was the Rangers most productive forward in the playoffs).
I fully see and understand Davidson’s vision for wanting to start fresh and create a new chapter of Blackhawks hockey with new and fresh voices in the locker room that would also allow younger players to fill leadership roles rather than just defer to guys like Kane but I can’t think of a better veteran player to add to Bedard’s wing than Kane if he’s still available past this year. it’s rough to watch Bedard set guys up that don’t process the game at his level and are never ready for his passing plays.

makes me sad for sure. always nice to see a legend spend a career in one place

Hindsight, but in the moment it probably shook out the best for both parties. Love ya Kaner!
