Even if we won the cup is Pettey worth 12mill for 8 years he is a more complete player but his skating sometimes is like watching my self hhahahahaha but he'll get more at the free agency lets be honest it's Pettey
Breggren in a package for Hanefin. 🏒
EP wants $12M and short term, 3-4 years, so the rumour goes…
Drop that down to $9M x 4 years
Since Petey wanted short term anyways
He’s not showing that he’s a consistent producing player to lift up his line-mates for $12M
It’s inevitable that EP signs for higher than JTM and QH on AAV… different season, cap space bumps, etc…
This season alone, QH and JTM are worth $10M each easy
But EP is not worth $12M today
Well said.
There are holes in Pettersons game that have not been addressed by him as a player. As a personality, there is none. I want the Canucks to continue to build an identity. A Canuck way of doing things. Then you don't have to be so dependent on particular 'talent', which is inevitably expensive and less dimensional. The more spent on talent, the less available for depth.
$12M x 8 is a lot…
Not a very happy Wings fan right now. What is Yzerman doing? The up and down again really messes with these guys heads.
Anything less wouldn't keep him in van
Canucks fans simply can't appreciate quality when they have it. This team was expected to challenge for a wild card spot. Now the fanbase think they should win the cup. Petey is just hitting his prime. 12 million will be worth it when the cap goes up. Appreciate the good while we got it.
I feel bad about being your 70th like….
Is Stevie going to pull some Stevie magic and get Hanafin for Jonny Burger?
If he takes 12 mil per we will definitely need to trade Mikheyev. We can only afford 6.5-7 mil per for Hronek and Lindholm each. We will be able to give Dakota a slight bump, but our defense will be budget next year. So hopefully they have a plan for that.
Pay petey keep him around he’s one of our best players look at how many 3+ point games he’s had this season dude deserves his money
Connor McDavid's is making $11,000,000 and his cap hit is $12,500,000 for the 2023-24 season. I love Petey, but these two are not the same player. Way, way of an overpayment.
Totally agree, Lego.
Pettersson is not worth 12 mil a season if that's what he was offered.
As mentioned, he is very good but not elite and not a difference maker.
I feel bad for Berggren. He should be in the NHL, but he's a casualty of the off-season signings because he doesn't have to clear waivers. I am sure he is frustrated and would like to be traded to a team that he can play for. He is keeping his mouth shut which is a good move on his part. Even though I suspect that he would like to play somewhere else he has limited options. He's going to be an RFA, and I don't think Stevie is in a rush to move him. I don't think he'll get traded unless we get a crazy offer for him. I suspect he'll sign a one year prove it deal in the off-season, similar to what Veleno signed.
EP40 is my favourite player of all time and it pains me to see all these fans cast him aside. I do think he has not yet reached his full potential. His ceiling is incredibly high! He has dealt with tons of adversity starting from being drafted to the NHL where all the naysayers thought the Canucks were stupid for drafting him and that he was "too skinny" to play in the NHL. Yet time and time again, he has proven you stupid fans wrong.
Yeesh $12 x 8 is a lot. Love Petey but $10.5 x 6 would be the perfect offer
If we have to trade Burger I hope it’s a way to get Hanafin. Although I see a possibility that Steve wants Burger and Edvinson to just go on a playoff run in Grand Rapids where they are the go to guys, see what they can do, and then when Ghost and Perron come off the books will just plug them in
It is exactly what he says. He is a professional player and it is awesome that he is concentrating on winning games. He can talk in the off season and that says a lot to his character and nothing more should be made of it
Some games Petey plays like a 12M player. But lots of games he doesn't, that's the problem.
Ever thought that Pettersson might not be eager to resign in Vancouver because of the fan hate he gets? And as a Wings fan I say trade Berggren since the team already has undersized offensive wingers in Raymond and DeBrincat who are both way better than Berggren!
