such a great era of hockey….and i was a Bruins fan.
This was my first hockey game. A friend that I played hockey with incredibly had an extra ticket ands asked me that afternoon if I wanted to go to the game. It was a Sunday night. I was 15 and an Islanders fan. I wore my Bossy jersey above my Trottier jersey to the game. Bossy scored first and then when Trottier scored in OT, I took off my Bossy jersey and walked out in my Trottier jersey. LOL! The seats were great, high enough to see the entire ice and pretty much center ice looking at the benches. I remember the OT goal scored by Trots was to my left. My other memory from that night was how loud the Garden was when the Rangers came out for the first period. I never heard a roar from a crowd like that and haven't since. It was so loud that I actually had to cover my ears. Thank God the Islanders won the game. It was so funny how fast the arena cleared out in silence. Everyone I was with was a Rangers fan and they asked me not to celebrate too much on the way out because they wanted to get to the car safely. LOL!
Loved Eddie Mio. Hanlon was such a downgrade.
I love the three "grind them out" victories by the Islanders at Madison Square Garden.
