The "charging" rule/penalty is at the discretion of the referee. Okay, "more than two strides" (lol- numerous checks involve multiple strides, so ignore that part). "Traveling an accessive distance"? Guilty, big time. Violently and unnecessarily check an opponent in any manner?" Guilty. I believe there other rules regarding checking a vulnerable player as well. In any event, the ref can enforce the charging penalty with up to five minutes, plus a match penalty/game misconduct (is there a difference? Lol).
stupid head shot–suspend him….all he had to do was stick his hip out to catch him below the head…no breaks for being tall…learn how to hit.

The league must be tough and consistent Especially when talking intent to injure.. Yes, not a head shot however, When I think of intent the Wilson panarin incident comes to mind. That has no place in hockey.

Rempe is going to have this problem a lot. He’s so tall it’s hard not to hit these little dudes high. I feel a little bad for the guy. He’s just trying to play tough hockey, which I like
The problem with the NHL are players hitting players just for the sake is hitting them. This was not a hockey play. He wasn’t hitting him to prevent a goal or break up a play. The player he hit was clearly against the board and losing his balance. It was a hit just for the sake of hurting somebody. This has got to go. You are not being a tough player by hitting someone who’s in a vulnerable position and can’t defend themselves. At that point, you are just hitting them to hurt them. That is just goon hockey.
Rempe looking like a bull in a china shop. For an NHL player that says a lot. Needs to control himself though. I'm a NYR fan and a hit like that to the head was certainly avoidable.
He has to know when and not to throw. A hit. Clearly player was in a vulnerable position. Should have tied him out.

Rempe has played in 3 NHL games and has gotten a major penalty within the first 3 minutes if two of them. I'm all for it since he basically wiped out 2 Devils in 10 seconds, but he's a little Pacman Jones already…
