I don’t really care about the streak. At the end of the day, it’s meaningless. If they set it you say that’s nice and move on with your life. I’m more concerned about losing 1st place! But at least the Canes only gained one on us.

  2. mixtapemalibumusk

Its not even about the streak, its just why is that team like our kryptonite. Its so confusing.

  3. jkman61494

Other than Mika either refusing to shoot or shooting 14 feet wide I take 0 concerns out of the loss. Been a taxing week and they clearly looked shot.

It just stings losing the record against a crappy team

  4. Prof_Cha0s84

You know what we need on Wednesday to get us going… A REMPE FIGHT. (Just kidding, take a night off, kid.)

  5. mikowoah

was a good streak! cant win them all and id rather lose to columbus than pretty much any of the teams we beat in the last 7 days.

  6. basic_spud

Meh. Not a doomer. A team thats best off the rush is the rangers achilles heel this season it seems. They’ve got to stop giving up so many of pucks for easy rushes up ice, especially to teams that can capitalize.

  7. huskyferretguy1

I’m fine with the loss. We just won 10 games plus still on top of the Metro, and Igor is back to form. Can’t win them all.

Perhaps NHL should do less back to back games?

  8. impulse_thoughts

The loss this game (and the lucky win last game) showing us the Rangers are still capable of repeating last year’s playoff run. If the team is able to get routed by one of the worst teams in the league, they’re gonna get absolutely shut down when the competition gets tough in a playoff series and the opposing team can adjust their play and matchups to poke at the team’s weaknesses, exactly like the jekyll and hyde team of last year.

  9. SilentSaidd

Ultimately it sucks to lose but this team just won 10 straight and they were going to lose again at some point. Sucks they couldn’t get 11 but CBJ played hard from the jump and rangers just looked exhausted from the first shift, on a back to back after playing every other day since the stadium series and CBJ was well rested.

  10. VALIS666

That game was a good rejoinder to a weird opinion I’ve been seeing around lately that the Rangers are fine as is and don’t need to do anything at the deadline.

They don’t have a RW1, and Brodz at C3 is, um, fine, but far from ideal.

They shouldn’t shoot for the moon on that C3 position, but the RW one, yes. It’s going to be important.

  11. Feisty-Fill4304

Lmao I was telling my dad last night « of course we mop the last few teams, but when we play a terrible team that’ll account for a record high winning streak we’ll lose ». Whatevs

  12. This was the perfect trap game. Chalk it off as one of those games and move on. Doesn’t count.

  13. mixtapemalibumusk

maybe Mika shud shave the mane?

  14. I recorded this game. And I accidentally saw they lost just now. I’m paused at 11 min left in the 2nd. Is it worth watching the rest?

  15. Klipsch89

Jackets fans (the whole 5 of them) are on cloud 9 tonight, let ’em have it because it’s likely one of very few wins they’ll see the rest of the season.

  16. Feisty-Fill4304

Weirdly odd note. Columbus has been trying to say they are rivals of the Rangers for years now, so when we play them they play like its equivalent to Rangers-Devils/Islanders. Meanwhile the Rangers are like « who the fuck are you? »

  17. cherrnoble

Very frustrating to watch, especially with the franchise record on the line tonight, but there are FAR worse games to lose. It happens. Let’s brush this one off and come back ready to go on Wednesday.

  18. EyeCloser

I can finally start watching again now that they’ve lost. But I really wanted 11 in a row.

  19. _Noah93

Not upset, we just won 10 in a row so we can’t complain too much even tho we lost to Columbus.

However, Mika and Kreider need to be split, put cuylle up there instead of Kreider and let’s see what happens. Those two suck 5v5 and having them together hurts. Rempe and edstrom have the same amount of 5v5 goals since December as Mika.

  20. Elsewhere_Not_Here

Fire everyone. Send Drury to prison. Completely swap the team with Hartford.

But seriously, one loss after a 10 game heater isn’t something to doom about, and I love me some dooming. Get a grip here folks.

  21. sentry_87

Just had to be a back to back for our franchise win record game…

  22. DropAGearNDissapear

Saw this coming from a mile away. They couldn’t keep it up forever especially after such a big test yesterday. Onto Wednesday.

  23. Horror-Dependent-645

Rangers have 81 points. I’m not angry.

Losses suck, but this team is good.

  24. 8teamparlay

Anyone legitimately dooming is insane. It’s fine to be upset about the way they played obviously but this game isn’t indicative of anything other than them being exhausted. Regroup and crush them Wednesday. Mika was fuckin awful tonight tho hahaha jeez.

And now for the downvotes: that Kane goal was sick, he’s playing great and at 2.5m he would’ve been a good fit here.

  25. Electronic-South2085

Fatigue finally set in. It’s not a big deal. 5 games in 7 days— especially rivalries, away back to backs and big emotional wins— will catch up with you eventually. Whatever

  26. iceturtles

Can’t win em all but I’m glad we finally get a break w only 2 games this week. Everyone looks tired af

  27. Wesley__Willis

Tonight was the ass end of an absurd week of hockey that *started* with an outdoor stadium game. Getting mad that your favorite hockey team didn’t win their 11th in a row, especially considering the aforementioned context, is nutty. I have zero doubt that they nuke the BJs on Wednesday after getting some much needed and well-deserved rest.

  28. MrBigChest

Can’t really complain after winning 10 straight but it sucks to break the streak by getting thoroughly outplayed by one of the worst teams in the league.

Idk what it is about Columbus but they always seem to play so much better against us than anyone else

  29. Famous_Secretary_540

Did panarin get 3 or 4 SOG? I’m seeing different numbers on different sites

  30. Key-Tip-7521

Too many Odd Man Rushes. Vally, Fox, Lav, Troch, and Kreids said it. Unacceptable. Disappointed defensively, and the lack of selfishness to shoot the puck on the power play. Bad game overall except for Bread, JQ, and the 4th Line.

Kreids said it best. 2 pts v. a division opponent. Are 2 pts more important than a 10 game winning streak looking for 11 wins in a row? Yeah I’d say so. Points are still valuable. Vally said in the post game, this winning streak, put the Rangers in a good position leading up to the trade deadline. Team needs a rw for the top line, and maybe an xtra center. Rempe played well. But he needs to slow down on the fighting. I like it. But for his health long term, he needs to limit the fighting.

anyway whatevs. Can’t win them all. 2 days off. Recharge. Be ready for Wednesday’s game.

    Onto to the Jackets

  31. kmisca92

NYR just dont get up vs bottom feeders. The ugliest games of the 10 game streak were Chicago, Montreal, and tonight. Can never be mad about 20 points out of a possible 22.

  32. ItsHeadbangerG

Losing a historic streak to a shit team sucks, but thems the breaks unfortunately. Obviously this team was exhausted and unprepared for tonight with so many costly mistakes and being outworked. Still 10 in a row ain’t nothing to scoff at. I’m proud of this team for being resilient and bouncing back after the awful January run. Now they can get some rest and come back swinging next week.

    See ya Wednesday.

  33. SwimmingWerewolf88

« the team they’re playing is low ranked and has issues, were’re probably gonna lose » has gone beyond a meme at this point.
This was for a franchise record, how could they not pull it together?

  34. SwimmingWerewolf88

Silver lining is Rempe is more than an enforcer, he’s actually useful with his gloves on. He’s here to stay

  35. Schedule loss, Columbus always plays us tough for some reason too

  36. obvioussponge06

Remember when the Flames lost 23 straight games at Honda Center?

Did you see Ottawa just got their first win against Vegas in FRANCHISE HISTORY?

    No panic needed. Calm down

  37. Fancy_Combination436

To me, trap game, end of story. I guess I just wish it was more entertaining, but oh well.

  38. BernieManhanders23

10-1 every 11 games would be nice

  39. Doctor_Freckles

Our 4th line looks great and has scored 2 goals in 2 games and Laf/Vinny/Bread continues to dominate. Can’t we be happy about that at least?

  40. Sapzz93

Streaks gotta end eventually but I’m upset it comes against such a shit team. And can Mika please for the love of god score a fucking 5v5 goal. This guy is supposed to be our 1C

  41. ExperienceNo7751

I’m don’t think anyone wants to admit it, but Mika sending slappers is a problem.

  42. Aromatic-Result1154

Big props to Quick for keeping us in it despite the fact that the didn’t capitalize on his generally fantastic play tonight. He is true blue.

  43. MagnoliaXtract

It should have been Igor in goal tonight. We probably wouldn’t have lost.

  44. Direct_Crab6651

Ok so nowhere near worried as we just won 10 in a row but there is a few worries I have

1)- this team has never been able to break a neutral zone trap. Lav needs to coach this up before the playoffs because we get down a goal and we will see a lot of it.

2)- people want a trade to upgrade the roster, but this to me seems nearly impossible. We don’t want to give away anything of value, especially for a rental, but who is going to trade us anyone worth a shit without selling the farm. No one is trading for Goodrow. It’s doesn’t seem like selling the future for a guy to be here for a minute seems worth it at all. It totally backfired last year. Seems completely not the answer to our problems this year.

3)- that leads to one off the wall possibility ….. trading Mika. For starters He should get you a lot. An actual real Impact RW and another top level piece ….. whether that be a defenseman or another winger …… and should be able to get them for more than a rental. The case to trade him is Mika has had a bad year and is a proven invisible man in the playoffs. He is basically Goodrow now with more goals and way more turnovers. Centers are very valuable and trading him to a team in a rebuild could get you a huge haul.

While I don’t think the rangers should make a trade at all, but if you are going to do one, it should be a real impact move for the future of the franchise and not a throw away all future drafts to get a guy for a month or two and hope it works out ….. last year shows how well that goes. People on here want to trade for a top flight RW….. well everyone knows that rangers want that so you are gonna overpay more than you already do at the deadline. Just try to get this team and Igor to get hot come playoff time and try to make a run at it
