It wouldn't surprise me if the Canucks trade Petterson in the off season. I mean why would he want to stay? He only plays for the top team in the league, in one of the five most livable cities in the world. Sigh. Man, only in Vancouver baby.
Trade Crosby (50% retained) and Guentzel (50% retained) to the Canucks for Elias Petterson and Aatu Raty. 87 helps Vancouver win the Cup with JR and Tocchet. 87 resigns with the Pens in the summer. Trade Malkin to the Caps for Ryan Leonard. 71 helps Ovi chase the goals record. With Geno and Jake off the books the Pens sign Elias Petterson.
Wolf’s not ready yet. Valdar isn’t a starter goalie. He’s a great backup. Vanecek is better than not having a starter goalie.
To not accpect a 12mil contract means he not coming back. I wpuldnt trade him though. Id let him walk in FA. Cant really replace him and this could be their cup winning year.

Great Video, as usual, Mike. I hear what you're saying about Elias Petterson. This is such a Whole New Hockey World after The Gudreau/Tkachuk Calgary Deals, especially the Double Whammy of Huberdeau trade (to have him regress from the player he was in Florida), so as not to lose Matthew Tkachuk for nothing. While I'm seeing Huberdeau bounce back a bit, especially Yegor Sharengovich being his linemate, it does put a player, who won't resign in season, in A RFA/UFA similar status, even though there's A Usual Benefit regarding RFAs, at least in the past. I would say that it's Best listening to any & all offers & take one if A Great One comes along.

I really was hoping the Avs would make a play for Casey Mittelstadt. Heard he is off the trade block, has anyone heard this? I don’t think Henrique is the big upgrade at 2C that is going to push them over the edge to get back to the finals…. They also need a backup goalie.

if pettersson goes to arbitration he could do a gaudreau at the end of his deal. a player wants job security and financial security and pettersson has been offered both. JR and alvin's hands are tied as far as making roster improvements till they know what his deal is worth. he's becoming a distraction among the fan base at least.
I don't think the Sens should move Tarasenko.If I was thinking of doing anything I would ask Claude Girioux if he wants to go to a contender.He only has this year and maybe one to 2 more seasons and he will retire.Claude hasn't won a cup.Tarasenko has about 3 to 4 more productive years and has won a cup.So the pressure isn't on Tarasenko to make a move to win a cup.Ottawa has too many top 4 left shot d men.Chychrun ,Chabot,and Sanderson.They are going yo have to move either Chabot or Chychrun.Chabots play this year is very good he is a plus 5 which is awesome for a puck moving defenseman.Ottawa is going to have to decide.Ottawa sits at about minus 1.5 or more in projected cap space.Thats horrible,but it doesnt mean you have to be dumb about the moves.
A top 4 right shot d man and a defensive 3rd line center.Norris could be the causality for a good middle 6 center.Ottawa is going to have to really think about who they want as core players,and change the cap space to be at least 2 million plus in projected space.
Imo the Oilers wouldn't make that trade for Guentzel, but specifically because of the players they'd give up, not because of any of the rest of the deal. In terms of roster players, the Oilers don't have a lot that they'd give up that the Pens would really be interested in, so maybe they do get their hands on Foegele, but he provides crucial depth for the Oilers and if they can avoid trading him I think they will. Akey was really impressing before his season got ended early. I don't think they'd be willing to move on from him right now. It would make a lot more sense to move Lavoie, who is at the point where he needs NHL playing time (so he'd also be useful to the Pens a lot faster – they could bring him up right away, whereas Akey is going to take more like 3-4 years).
