Nope. I am 100% this never happened. There were no Olympics that year, as far as I can recall.

That Team Canada was so incredibly stacked,
**Forwards:**
Iginla- Crosby- Staal
Marleau- Heatley- Thornton
Toews- Richards- Nash
Getzlaf- Bergeron- Perry- Morrow
**Defense:**
Weber- Niedermayer
Seabrook- Keith
Doughty- Pronger
Boyle
**Goalies:**
* Brodeur, Fleury and Luongo
Makes me excited to see the upcoming Olympic lineups.

Every four years cheering for Crosby is ok in my land.

Iginla has never gotten enough credit for his work along the boards and threading that pass through a really tight gap to Crosby. We always hear about Crosby, and never about Iginla.

I had to go to a mall in downtown Vancouver to watch because the streets were so packed full of people. It was crazy. Almost makes up for the Canucks crush my soul year after year…almost.

Man was in college at the time, at a bar with all my buddies in NJ. Went nuts when we tied it. Place was fuckin’ crickets when this happened. Big gut punch.

I’ve never been a big fan of Sid. Lacked a lot of grit I like in a player. I will say though, I’m glad he’s a Canadian.
Canada at its peak. We’ve sure gone downhill since

Crazy to think how recent this was and seeing a wooden goalie stick

Wha happens to nhl games? Do teams just keep playing without their best players or are games paused?

This Olympic run is what made me a hockey fan. As an American I was mesmerized watching Ryan Miller and became a sabers fan in a house of rangers fans. Then I watched the king and a season later became a massive rangers fan. This Crosby goal killed me when I was a teenager

I’m in the extreme minority here but that whole olympics was not exciting to me. The outcome felt fated and Canada’s opponents, while occasionally valiant, just felt like they never had a chance. Growing up on things like the 87 Canada Cup I knew what it felt like to have Canada face legitimately scary international competition. When this goal was scored I was like: « Yup, that’s how it was always going to go. »
And before you cite the 1998 Olympics, that was another similar tournament, and Canada just ran into a living brick wall in Dominek Hasek. The 70s-80s Russians were just a different beast entirely.

One of the defining moments of my youth. My very first apartment, I had about 20 of my closest friends over, I was the only Canadian in the room of Americans, living in Virginia. When Crosby scored it was like Christmas.

I get chills every time I hear Sid yell “IGGY!” he KNEW.
