Fantastic effort from Montreal tonight, they kept pushing and didn’t let it get out of reach at any point against a much better team. Great production from the guys we want to produce! Huge night from Suzuki, active on both ends and three points, and probably Slaf’s best game since early February.
Shoutout to Guhle as well, one of the best defensive games I’ve seen him play. Fantastic all game at disrupting play around the net.
Oh captain my captain! He is a 1c.
Newhook is showing more and more why Hughes went for him. He has great abilities, he has something.
Caufield point
Slaf point
GG
Well, at least we got a point
Worthless point.
Barkov owns us
useless loser point
great game tho
Heartbreaking loss lol Monty got played…
Also why the fuck Ylonen
Feel bad for Monty he played his ass off. Whole team did really. Great effort out there, entertaining hockey game. Arguably should’ve won it in OT
Gonna be a great best-of-7 against them in April!!
Really fun game. Ghule, Xhekaj, Slaf, Savard, Matheson and especially Suzuki were standouts here. Can’t wait til we have a second line.
lol ok with the rat on the ice, you beat the habs in the shootout congrats
Hopefully Moominbank will think about it twice before leaving a kilometer wide hole above his shoulder on PP again.
Half joking aside, quite a strong game. They more than held their own against one of the best team.
Great game. Pumped to find out just how high the ceiling is with these kids. Skys the limit, it seems.
Suzuki up to 59 in 60. 70 feels more and more like a sure thing, could we get to 75?
Slaf goal suzuki amazing 1+2 xhekaj awesome assisst and ref saving panther from being killed by him, caufield assisst newhook goal and great game by monty. Overall very good efford againts top team. Fun game to watch. Pity about the point
People will complain about the loser point but that was a great game, I’ll take a loser point if the games are as fun as that
Fuck the Panthers
lots of monty disrespect in here 😔
I hate shootouts and I hate Sam Reinhart.
But I love Zukes and Monty.
Good game.
Suzuki flexing his game today and showing why he’s a 1C lot’s of good chances that could’ve resulted in even more production too.
I mean you look down the lineups and realise that was a phenomenal effort. Monty should hold his head up, great performance and the team in front of him managed to roll with the punches and land a few of their own.
suzuki was incredible as usual. loved the slaf goal. wish we could’ve won this one for monty but it was an entertaining game from start to finish.
second period reffing was something else and i really wanted to see xhekaj unload his fists on one of those little rats but all in all, had fun watching!
Dang. Great game. Poor Monty, visibly pissed leaving the ice. Knew he wanted that one, he played great and is probably cursing himself on that shorty.
*BAD*
– Overall a good game so I’ll go with this as there was not much bad. They aren’t going to win many games obviously against better teams as you can play a perfect game like this one and still come out below. Just a talent thing.
– Second powerplay on forward might not have an NHL quality forward on it other than Roy and he’s still cooking. Going by this year alone, Ylonen nope not nhl quality, Gallagher nope not this year, and get mad at me if you want I stand by this take Anderson is not either.
– Couple of those calls were pathetic. Just because a team is getting hemmed in does not mean hey I gotta call a penalty. That trip on Caufield was hilariously bad.
– It was not a bad try from Ylonen… but he hasn’t got a goal in like 30 games. Let’s move on in the shootout from him.
– I think Monty was not bad but I think he wants some back. Particularly the last one.
*GOOD*
– Funny how the tweets all day and the media Suzuki is like Barkov. Don’t get me wrong, Barkov is a hell of a player but honestly I’m taking Suzuki all day. First goal great patience waits out the goalie, roofs it. Second goal puts it right on the stick of Slaf off the face off, third goal enters the zone perfect hits Caufield (who had a good third but is struggling a little) who finds Newhook.
– Slaf had a goal. Wasn’t his best including a turnover on a panthers goal but we like that goal.
– I don’t think I’m ever going to be blown away or wowed by Newhook but in a middle 6 role he will fit here long term. Nice shot, brings some speed.
– A rough game and one where Xhekaj was noticeable. Not to go all grumpy but of all our very borderline d he brings something that is absolutely needed in the division. Toughness. I don’t know what the sub thinks a late first round pick is but I assure you it probably won’t be anywhere near Xhekaj or hey maybe it can have the potential of Xhekaj. Small minority who wants to move him I know.
– Matheson. Offensive D does offensive d things, he’s had a good year. Top 10 in D points. He’s literally an offensive d what ya want from him? He isn’t a defensive defensemen does his job.
GG against a cup contender. Hate to see Monty lose in a shootout after a good game but it is what it is. The future is bright.
Ylonen aiming for the post
Great effort by the boys, such a travesty we had to go a whole season without Dach. Pray to god he’s healthy next year and this team is a lot closer to competing than people think.
Also Xhekaj’s been one of our best d-men since his re-call. You love to see it!
Honestly, the outcome of that one in OT/SO didn’t matter to me, that was one of the most fun habs games I watched in a while. Fast and furious towards the end! Great action from both teams.
Happy with games like this
That was some shit reffing but fun game to watch anyway
Well it’s already been said but who cares:
Suzuki was so good
i really hope we at least beat cheats on saturday
That was a good game despite the loss. Again, solid performance by the 1st line. The same supporting cast stepped-up to play and our young d-men are the ones who carried the team.
Josh Anderson right now is the guy that both coaching and mgmt. should talk about. Sorry to say this but between Gallagher and Anderson, I think JA is just not doing a lot in this team.
Mike Matheson is also a guy that needs to play more defensively.
Anyway, at least our team get a point tonight. Off to Tampa Bay.
If Ylonen is not in the plans past this year, put him on waivers, if he clears he can help Laval, if he gets claimed then no big loss.
I’m thinking Suzuki gets the Molson cup this month
Bummer to go into the /r/hockey game thread and see people throwing around the term « frogs » all over the place and then trying to rationalize how it’s not racist or discriminatory. A literal slur. That place has gone so downhill.
Canes fan coming in peace~
Just wanted to say I’ve really enjoyed watching Slafkovsky play. He’s taking tremendous steps forward in his game this year. Reminds me of another young favorite I’ve been keeping my eye on- Quintin Byfield who is only a year or two ahead of Slaf progression wise (given their entrances to the league and age).
Am excited to watch him develop and thrive.
Nick Suzuki is one of my other all time favorites I’ve enjoyed watching for a few years now.
Rooting for you guys!~ (except when you play us! 😉)
Didn’t see much of Roy tonight, why was he benched? was he playing poorly
