#Blackhawks”

  1. Yeah imagine what this team looks like when Seth Jones doesn’t play 30 minutes a night. It’ll be magical.

I do kind of feel for Jones. He’s pretty clearly the best D guy on the team, so he probably feels like he has to do everything.

Yeah this is what I’ve been saying he’s really not doing as terribly as everyone thinks…. He has no finish but he’s been good.

  4. Moist-muff

Not his fault he is overpaid. He’s doing all that is asked for in his skill set.

Seth Jones’ biggest problem is that he’s expected to play as a #1, and that he’s paid like that. As far as his actual play problem obviously offensive contributions are lacking, but an ever bigger issue and the reason he gets so much criticism is that sure, his average numbers are solid, and he plays a lot of minutes, but in the big moments he always makes a ridiculous decision. Take the game against the red wings, played a lot of minutes of okay defensive hockey, with some bad shooting and decisions at times, but then biggest moment in the game in OT he leaves Patrick Kane open for a breakaway to stuff two shots into reimers pads from a foot outside the crease. Most nights he plays okay, nothing great or terrible, but he has a knack for making huge mistakes in the biggest moments in games that bring him a ton of heat.

I’m sure the comments here will be civil.

His play in OT the other day wasn’t great – not necessarily just because he missed Bedard, but because it took him out of position when those 3 guys had already played a really long shift. As soon as he skated down into the low slot you just knew nobody was going to be able to get back on D to cover for him.

That said, despite how I feel about how much he’s getting paid, I just can’t get on board with the mentality here that he’s just somehow the source of all of our problems. Skill wise, this is just such an unfathomably bad team. Luke Richardson isn’t playing him the minutes he’s getting because of how much he’s getting paid – he’s playing him because our other options are abysmal. Vlasic has been getting good minutes and I can’t wait to watch him keep getting better. Korchinski is going to get there too.

his shooting is my only gripe with his game this year, he’s obviously overpaid, but he’s playing good defense and him and Vlasic have been a solid paring this year

  8. r_un_is_run

If Jones made 7.5 instead of his 9.5, no one would care at all.

In the end, his extra 2 million a year won’t be what holds us back

  9. He’s honestly a fine 2/3 defenseman. Simply overpaid and tasked with doing too much

  10. BigCelebration7504

If he stops trying to play hero puck it’ll be a lot better

It almost seems like Stan Bowman gave up all those assets and signed Jones to that absolutely abysmal contract as a final fuck you to the Hawks. Sucks. Doesn’t make sense to buy him out. Hopefully he’ll pick it up when the Hawks start competing.

Try and trade him if his stats are so good.

  13. LegendaryWarriorPoet

People were really telling on their hockey acumen in the threads about him getting right to the net in OT and putting shots on goal without realizing Kurashev and Bedard should have filled in higher to prevent the easy OT breakaway

  14. big-chicago-guy

yep better trade him now before the fall off

  15. stranger5585

Yeaaaa hawks need to pay him out and send him on his way sorry. I think his performance on special teams against Detroit is a good indication as to how horrible he is

  16. ramblinray

What are his numbers like in overtime against Detroit when Bedard is wide open
