Better be slinging draft picks left and right… otherwise this makes zero sense.

I, far and away, thought the Hakanpaa deadline was the worst of all time.

Folks, this one is going to be worse.

How are we retaining half a mil in salary for a 6th as a contender a week out from the deadline. They must really think the prices or the players are not worth it this year. Wow

Will certainly take the extra draft stock.

Just seems like a friendly thing to do with another eastern contender.

Hopefully more is on the way with the ducks

This isn’t Vatrano or Henrique Don

  5. Huh. Bit of a head scratcher, but will take the pick.

Consolation prize for missing out on petterson

Going to save my full thoughts until next week Friday but for now is can’t miss an opportunity for a quip-

    This’ll save us….

Weird. Adding picks for an offer bundle? Or just an inconsequential byproduct?

We lose a miniscule amount of cap space and gain a draft assett. Smart, though pretty insignificant, move

Ok so they buy a 6th rounder for retaining 25% on a contract helping an eastern conference playoff team in the process? Doesn’t make a lost of sense to me. When’s the last time a 6th rounder made a difference?

Alright we helped you Anaheim, now give us Vatrano

just feels trite, obviously not the entire deadline/moves/whatever but just, meh

Slepets involved. So gain draft pick and take some salary, lose unsigned guy who was a long shot

I’m going to trust DW. There’s more to this than meets the eye. He’s a good GM and wouldn’t jeopardize the team on purpose. I’m more worried about UFA’s walking with nothing to show for it.

Don helped a rival save cap space to trade for a guy who will most likely not put that rival over the top. I see it as Don being like “sure, I’ll help you make a bad trade for yourself.”

i wonder if there is a vatrano deal on the horizon. anaheim asks us to scratch their back and they scratch ours

This makes me wonder if Verbeek will be at PNC tomorrow since he was at both the Wild and BJ’s game. We only get two games before the deadline, Saturday and Thursday.
