  1. As a leaf fan I wasn't ready to pay him what he was asking… how could we…. especially now with Nylander signing…….(if we did no willy rn, prob be traded) but I was certainly sorry to see him go! Now I wonder if he would have ever gotten 40-50 with the leafs…. or he is just a special fit with a playmaker like McJesus.

  2. It's revisionist history to say he was a good finisher in Toronto. He wasn't. Had a high of 21 goals and 25% of them were on empty nets. He was known to have stone hands as well.

I'm not being a salty Leafs fan. They didn't have the money. The fact that for the first few months, people thought that Bunting was a better player speaks volumes as to how good Hyman ACTUALLY was before he left. He's gotten the McDavid bump for sure, but he's obviously worked hard on his in – tight play and it's paid off. There's no regrets here. I don't think this is how he would have ended up had he stayed.

  3. Ppl saying he shouldn't make team Canada are delusional. He will play for team Canada in the Olympics and be a huge part of the team

  4. Yeah he does remind some of the older fans of a skilled ryan smyth becuase of his effort and where he goes to get those goals, but he deserves all the praise he's getting and I hope he gets 50 goals. Best signing so far by holland with eckholm and kaner close behind. I thought kaner would be the one to get 50 but hyman has elevated his game to another level. you have to be skilled to play with skill.

  5. Oilers fans should be excited because EVERY single time the leafs let a decent player walk, they go win a cup somewhere else.

  6. 2 last night to get to 40, he's for sure getting more than 10 to finish the season. I'm going to say 55 this year.

  7. I think there may be an argument to be made the Hyman is actually a better hockey player than Draisaitl. Hyman does many more things on the ice than Draisaitl, does many things better than Draisaitl and as it turns out is just as good as a finisher as Draisaitl.

  8. I think I was more hurt losing Hyman than Kadri. He does everything and has crazy work ethic and will also scrap if he has to. Best two way forward in the league.

  9. He has 40 goals as of February 28th. 50 is certainly not out of the realm of possibility. 😊

  10. To this day I cannot fathom how Toronto regardless of statistical output, didn’t sign this guy solely on the person he is and his work ethic

  11. He is like nuge– he wont age. We love him and I love his reacrion pf disbelief when he scores.. he shakes his head and and says a few words to mcdavid cuz he cant beleiev the pass he fot. Just love him. Makes up for some other (cough goalie) mistake(s).
    GO OILERS GO!!
