If they don’t make the playoffs it’s not the end of the world. Roy can not make miracles it’s Lou who has to give him better players and let Roy do what he needs to do to win a Stanley cup. Easy
Haha. Always an informative video. I remember as a kid he was Montreal’s goalie and I pronounced his name as it is spelled “Roy” lol. Until I finally was paying attention to announcers and figured out it was french canadien dialect lol. To be honest, I was suprised when they brought him in over Lambert. Roy is a little cookoo from what I’ve seen in his playing days. His son followed suit I saw years ago him sprinting down ice to completely assault the opposing team’s soft non violent goalie and celebrating the. beatdown. Ok my bad, that’s besides the point. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!!!!
They don't look any better under wahhh. I prefered their fan friendly style under Lambert..
As an islanders fan I’m not mad at Roy at all, this Roster is just unfortunately not good
How long must you go on ignoring me please just a short video on the hurricanes
Let's face it, that old guy at 0:30 would be whining about anything a person did which was left to chance and didn't go the way he wanted it to. Would be probably whispering that he loved Roy through the glass if something worked out. Keep leaving those figurative pot holes for the younger ones to fix, gramps.
Roy is not to blame. I think the Isles need to fix up the team. Keep the core guys, but get rid of the extras. I think Pageau could be a good deadline move for them. Though he has a big contract, he’s a warrior in the playoffs, and could be a big boost for a team that needs more depth. In the offseason, they could trade Clutter, Engvall, Mayfield, and a few other guys to get younger and faster. Then try to get a big scorer like Tarasenko or someone else and improve the defense. With a better defense, Sorokin’s job gets easier, meaning he can return to Vezina caliber form, and with a little more scoring, they can be a real tough team. The pieces are there. Lou just needs to wake up from his nap and do something because this team clearly isn’t going anywhere right now.
Its a bold strategy cotton lets see if it works out for him 😆🫡
I think Roy has adjusted his style and adapted to a modern game well, the speed he is seeking to play with is crucial in todays NHL obviously. Roster construction is nightmarish but I think he’s shown enough potential to either keep his job or earn another one elsewhere
Hey JH are You not a Flames fan? How did You not do a video on that glorious BOA on Sat? To watch Edm fall apart was truly tremendous…
Those complaining about him pulling the goalie early must not be familiar with him. He did that a lot when coacing Colorado. I actually like it and this is coming from a Red Wings fan.
Just because Roy was a good goalie doesnt make him a good coach. 😂
Lee hasn't acted like a Captain in 2 yrs.
Down 3-0 what the hell is wrong with pulling the goalie 10mins 😂
It gets worse….. Roy has to lead his team into Detroit (We all know the history there) against one of the teams Long Island is chasing and the Wings are on fire to boot.
"Roy had the Isles net empty with 11 minutes left in the game…. It went exactly how you thought it went" lmao that's hilarious
Roy has the Islanders playing better despite their record since he's taken over. He's at NHL .500 being given a team that was given up almost 40 shots on a nightly basis. He's cleaned that part up a bit. Given the roster he's been given and the short amount of time he's had to work with the team, I'm happy with him. The GM on the other hand is running out of excuses and has depleted the prospect pool to an NHL's worst ranked at #32.
It's all on Lou. He does not do anything to help the team. Sorry.
Roy sucks. He’s a terrible coach.
I love that you bring in Bednar into this. The guy came in with a team that was in complete tatters, was in the worst season of their history, and never once was he trying to get people to believe in this year. "It's going to take time." He kept saying. And he did. The Avs are one of the best teams in the league, Bednar is one of the longest standing coaches in the NHL for a reason. Roy may have made a mistake in how he and management wanted the team to be for the Avs and parted ways, but it needs time. Tocchet didn't get the Canucks to where they are in one day, or one season. He got the team to buy in when he had the time to work with them.
Give Roy the chance, give him an offseason, give him a full season, then you can put him in the fire or not. Until then, he's just doing the best with what he's got.
im not much an islanders fan but im a huge roy fan. roy and avalanche was wat got me into hockey in mid 90s with my brother. i have high hopes for islanders next year, its just too late for him to do anything YET. have faith in the GOAT. his reasonings are beyond your comprehension. we're playing checkers hes playing chess.
Yuah, we’re dat 17 game win streak like the oilers new coach? I heed that guy scored 3 game winners himself. Hahaha
Truth is that it takes at least 2-3 years to build a solid base and first floor… to then branch out to fill in spots is a lotta luck. Skill too but prob 70/30 skill..
Roy is an A Hole from day one always thinking about himself. I lost all respect when he played at our golf course and would not sign anything for the kids then leave Montreal in a fit of rage cause he could not do the job anymore ????? You think he is going to fix the world now . What a Joke .
Roster construction was built to win from 2020-2022. Its 2024. Guys out of their prime alongside those deep deep playoff runs we had which in itself is like playing an extra season. Had our chance to win with this team. Tampa was 1 goal better. Nothing Roy can do
6m10 is the ideal time to pull the goalie. If down by two, then 13m00. Search for the paper "Pulling the Goalie: Hockey and Investment Implications – SSRN". Roy is actually pulling too late 😉
Islanders need to rebuild around Barzal, Horvat, Dobson, and Sorokin.
Hopefully Habs can aquire Roy
Marty is Soft
Islanders fan here, most of us are not frustrated with Roy at all. Our anger is pointed at Lou now because of these contracts he has us tied up in.
Roy has two good goalies on this team in Sorokin and Varlamov, that he doesn't have to "back in my day" at, so now he just needs to build the team in front of them.
Roy is not going to impress anyone with his personality. He's French Canadian. Need I say more? But seriously he's loud and kinda a bully at times and just a mean dude at heart. That's not always such a good thing. It may be that he needs 3 seasons to really do what he wants to do. I don't think he'll get 3 seasons yet but maybe he will drag it out with some smoke and Canadian mirrors.
I'm a fan of pulling goalie early with 3 goals advances. It basically train your players for delayed penalties when you want to control the puck without giving it to the other team. One of the most basic and best exercise ever.
I honestly like what Roy has done with this team, but the Islanders won’t be good again without a retool. The core players (barzal, horvat, sorokin, nelson, dobson) have been great (especially considering sorokin has faced the most shots in the nhl), but the production around them has been questionable at best. Theres only so much roy can do with the way the roster is currently constructed (even trotz had better players like toews, leddy, eberle, bailey when he was good, and a lot of these guys when they were younger).
I like Patrick. Wish the Senators would have had the balls to hire him. I think the Islanders are going to be just fine.
What is unfair is the Islanders boring jerseys. Bring back the 1996-1997 jerseys with the waves and lighthouse 2nd logo and then have the Fisherman logo jersey as 3rd jersey
🏒🥅🏆
Just waiting for Roy to repeat the events of 1995. “This is my last game on Long Island”
All those punches from Vernon and Osgood caused brain damage.
Go wings go.
Damn I was just about to make the Jared Bednar comment when you did in the video
I really appreciate that you calmed your voice, stopped repeating yourself 5 times, and stopped the mimic whining voice.
