I understand exactly what Conroy is trying to build. Everyone sets the skill of defenceman based on points. Tanev has become a template for the flames. Big, physical, defence first, high character and cost effective. Ultimately in the next 3 years I think Conroys goal for the 2nd and 3rd pairs is 1 offensive driver and one Tanev lite that allows the offensive guy to roam.
It's a good trade for Calgary , we got him for 4 years and now a 2nd and a good young player
