Tyler Johnson would be a feel good acquisition but under no circumstances should we be paying a third for him. Don’t think he really helps us at all from an on ice standpoint.

Also that deal for Hanifin is a way underpay. No way Calgary is giving us back a 2nd, let alone selling Hanifin straight up for a single 26 1st

There’s no way Hanifin goes for that little and if we give up more than a 7th die Tyjo Brisebois has lost his mind.

Johnson was about washed when he left here. No need for another bottom 6 guy who doesn’t score. Big Rig would be nice but again, bottom 6 guy who rarely scores. Hopefully BriseBois is a little more creative than the author of this

Other people have said it, but the Hanafin « mock trade » would be utter larceny and that Flames GM would be ran out of town.

TyJo and Big Rig would be locker room additions, so no idea how that might work out, but a 3rd feels like too much for TyJo.

Can’t see TJ being worth a third. If we’re trading a third to bring back Tyler he better be retained. Love how he played with us before but the writing was on the wall in the last few years. He’s a shell of his former self and even if he’d be an upgrade in the bottom 6 over guys like Sheary, it’s minimal at best.

Big rig and TJ are both washed at this point, no thanks.

  7. TyJo would be a solid bottom 6 but only for 4th or higher. Big rig is worthless to us. He’s too slow and too old for what we need

We need to stop living in the past. They were traded for a reason. Remember when nobody wanted Johnson for free?

  9. ManateeMonk4

Loved their time here but Maroon and Johnson aren’t fixing our bottom 6 lol

Articles like these make me question just how much (or how little) hockey journos actually know about league rules. We can’t get back Maroon (even if JBB wanted to) until a full year **after** the MIN trade because we retained $200k of his salary.

Also, if we wanted TJ, it would have to be a 3-team trade like Tanev or Lyubushkin, because CHI can only retain up to 50% of his $5M/AAV. TJ, even at $2.5M, wouldn’t be worth it. Someone else would have to retain an additional 25% or so, which would be an additional unnecessary headache.

Love what Maroon brought in his time here but he’s a borderline NHL player at this point.

This sub loves emotional sentiment for ex players and current players that can’t keep up. This is a business with one goal, to win a cup. Continuing to overpay players and mortgage our future does nothing to help us maintain a competitive team in the long term.

You know an article’s top-notch when they spell Hanifin wrong half the time.

Is this from the Beaverton? No way does any of this actually happen lol.

Obviously these writers also don’t know that we can’t re-acquire Maroon for 1 year from the date we traded him (or until this current contract ends after this season) due to salary retention from his previous trade. Great job writers /s
