Seems fair. There is absolutely some concern about Mantha’s consistency issues, but he is a guy who has stayed relatively healthy and can be capable of shooting well
Caps are retaining 50 percent of his salary making this a pretty good trade. All that salary being retained will keep us in the running for most players on the market.
Not a fan at all, even for the retained salary it’s a lot.

I read an article a few minutes ago saying we should grab a defenseman, and called out Martinez and Whitecloud, Martinez for being « sluggish » and Whitecloud for « being completely absent ». Idk how much I agree with that, but I think we have a few more pieces to snag, so I would expect another wild deadline for Vegas.
A second round pick, and the future fourth, for Mantha as a rental isn’t bad, if he has motivation to show up for three and a half months in a contract year on a playoff team and then they don’t re-sign him.
Some depth scoring to try to defend the Cup. They’re going to go for it because they are the defending champions no matter how terrible we’ve looked.
Just hope if they make a big move it’s not for a rental but a longer term solution because future years may be better to go for it for us than this one has been.

I know this won’t be popular, but if they trade for him it would be best to resign him over Marchie.
Marchie is older and has less good years left in him.
I’d be upset if this was our only move. But with 50% retained, I’m cool with this. He should be a good compliment to our depth and we aren’t done
