Verbeek really is a size queen. Kakko’s in year five now and seems to be actually regressing instead of improving, yet because he’s 6’3″ 210, has a high draft pedigree, and is still young he’ll always get interest.
The last thing we need on a roster full of kids and 4th liners is another mediocre wing.

I’ll go against the grain in these comments and say I really like Kakko. He’s not a big scorer but he’s a big-time possession-driver – kind of the anti-Vatrano. I think he’d be a phenomenal complementary piece in our top 6 long-term, kind of like a hybrid between Nichuschkin on the Avs and Cogliano when he was with us on the Kesler line.

The edmonton deal ended up being better. We keep vatrano and get rid of Carrick and henrique for 1st rounder and 5th rounder with potential for 4th round
