  1. Anyone notice that Carter somehow looks faster now? I think it's a case of the rest of the team looking slower because Carter aint gettin' any faster. Either the Pens just dont feel like moving their feet in masse or age has caught up with them too.

  2. Dubas has a chance to redeem himself if we resign him in July as we then keep all the haul from Carolina. Short of that, this is a Top 3 worst trade in all of Pittsburgh sports history.

  3. Thanks DK. Feels like the deconstruction of the team rather than the addition. I was thinking they would have moved to some young players to add to the better players. Mind bogging. Another great show DK

  4. I think P O would have been a -7 last night if that would be possible..He's been bad in general. I think the Pens needed to address problems like that rather than acquiring the types of players they;ve been acquiring starting with Karlsson.

  5. I ain’t judging this trade until I see exactly what these prospects can do.

But it sucks we never got one of their top 5 prospects

  6. Wow, Dubas hasn't even been on the job a year and he is already destroying the penguins organization. Lol . . he is the same power hungry little man who let Hyman walk away from the Leafs for free. Dubas refused to pay him 5 million, Lol

  7. Quite a change of pace from your prior assessments of Dubas, and the worse by far. He did really well here all things considered. Sullivan is, and has been, the problem with the penguins and no gm can fix that short of cleaning house and hiring a new coaching staff

  8. Remember when the Flyers got Owen Tippett for Claude Giroux? Giroux was a rental so don’t tell me you can’t get a top prospect for a rental.

  9. This GM is here to oversee the dismantling of the Crosby Penguins. Then, the Fenway group will turn the Penguins into a poor man's Pirates. They're not going to ever be serious about competing unless a fluke season happens.

  10. I agree this is a bad deal, but how do you know Jake wanted to stay? I didn't see any sign of this. And I wouldn't blame him for wanting to leave. This team has been sinking along with its three captains and no one with the Cup in mind would want to join them.

  11. I said this at the beginning of the season. Why is dubas signing all these old players? I was like they need youth and speed! Only good signing turned out to be Lars Eller in my opinion. Now they just have a dumpster fire. He did do well on moving grandlund and petry though.

  12. Borderline unprofessional content, Reactionary emotional ramblings that definitely don’t sound like someone who has access to the organization or is intimate with the inner workings of any NHL trade. Very unbecoming stuff here, not very professional “I don’t remember their names” of the players involved in the trade! Stunning lack of insight or perspective

  13. "Give you one bleeping thing…" He traded 90% of our bad players for Erik Karlsson. There's your one thing. You're just pissed because you incorrectly and irresponsibly reported out of your ass, repeatedly I might add, and now look like a total jackass. Do better! Everyone makes mistakes, just take your lumps and move on.

This is/was a very poor short-term trade, but it could be very decent long-term. Especially for a rental player. Dubas didn't re-sign Jake because Jake obviously didn't want to resign without testing free agency. If he did, then Dubas screwed up and he's incompetent.

  14. I am going to let this play out. Got an NHL player, 3 prospects, 2 draft picks for Guentzel. I loved watching Jake and will miss him…but we had to get younger and start building for the future. This team isnt going anywhere with or without Jake due to no fault of his own. They aged out and made minimal adjustments to account for that over the years. Dubas was handed a terrible situation. I give him credit for getting rid of terrible contracts for Karlsson. He went for it the best he could. This is going to be a rebuild imo….not a retool. I feel bad for Sid and the core guys, but it had to happen.

  15. He speaks facts when talking about going bsckwards. You don’t let that kind of talent go away for nothing and don’t pay. Remember trades of the 90s pens that were stacked and let to the eventual collapse early 2000s

  16. DK, you have zero clues about the incoming players the Pens received from Carolina. Promonarev is going to be a very good plsyer. He played two games for the 'Canes, eith a goal and an assist. The Penguins FO, did this to themselves, holding onto LeTang, Malkin and Syd past their prime. Keeping Crosby, and building back around him, would have been the right move two/three years ago. But Hextall was to blame. As it is, they got a good deal, for a 20 game rental snd impending UFA.

  17. J1Q: this trade is potentially historically bad. If you accept that premise, where do you think it ranks in those terms?
