I'm trusting Yzerman. He hasn't neccessarily had the best lottery luck so many fans forget this. What he was able to still do is good. It's a process. he also had to clean up alot of what Ken Holland left first so that took time. Yzerman isn't panicking. He's making smart moves even if we aren't in a position to make a big splash. He isn't going to give up picks. That is what a good GM does.
Played it smart. He's right, kane was our acquisition and he would have left if we fell in the standings but he's hopefully staying. W by doing nothing
No trade no problem..we r not gonna beat fla, bos or nyr this year, simple as that..1 of those 3 would b our 1st round. Save the cap space, make bigger moves july1st when cap goes up. Smart trade day, keeping it real this year. Go wings
You realize from this interview , that Steveâs approach is very conservative. Other teams do part with picks and prospects to acquire experienced talent that helps push their teams forward to success.
We do not do that and it means it will take much longer to reach significant success. Many quality teams improved their chances at this deadline. We did not. I was particularly concerned by Steveâs remarks that he will not try extending our UFAâs till the end of the season. That likely means most of them enter into free agency. Good luck replacing Kane and Sprong and Ghotisbehere if they split. It wonât be easy to replace those contributions.
With Kostin gone, they have no toughness at all although the coach wasn't playing him anyways. Wings are way too soft and have been for years. You would think Yzerman having played with Probert, Kocur, McCarty, Shanahan, Lapointe, Ciccarelli, Grimson, Pushor ect…that he would know the value of having grit and toughness in the lineup but he seems oblivious to it even after watching Ottawa clown them last season and Florida this season. They needed Gudas or Luke Schenn last summer not Holl who got rag dolled by Athanasioux.
You should've given Klim a chance to play. Whether it was coaching or management, they should've found a way to give him ice time and play a consistent role. Will miss him.

Seems like team is much better. Drafting though has not been good. All those picks and only two players on the team. Go wings!
bye bye klim your fists will be missed.

Shot yourself in the foot with the petry and holl trade and signing. Spent the entire deadline trying to move money out instead of improving the team.
That'a a huge vote of confidence from Steve. He basically said that I trust in you guys to accomplish our main goal as an organization.

Glad grandrapids is doing well. But not at the cost of the parent club. Having Simon and Bergs down in GR hurts us, plain and simple.
Many don't understand that steve is an employee and he doesn't write the checks..
Holland put the Wings back 10 years. Stevie is slow and steady wins the race. Keep it up. Youâre doing a great job!

This team hasn't had a full year playing together I feel that they will even be better next year
