I don’t really understand how retaining 75% on Henrique could net a 2024 1st, but retaining 50% on Toffoli could only get a 2nd and 3rd in 2025

  2. FullOak82

So…unknowns in just draft picks (which for all we know right now might end up starting their career for a while in Utica waiting for an injury call up), and we still have to retain salary?! Wtf

  3. boredandmotivatedV2

This is fucking ridiculous. If nothing else happens by 3pm I’m going to be looking at Fitz much differently.

  4. njkid30

This is not how I wanted to weaponize Dougie’s LITR cap space

  5. nostradamefrus

This, uh…this is a head scratcher

  6. theVigReezus

Guys calm down this literally doesn’t matter at all lol

  7. IIlIlIIllIlllIIllllI

So are we done pretending that Fitz is great? Cause wow what a shit deal

  8. GummiBear6

(Lando voice) *This deal is getting worse all the time*

  9. DontDraftSmall

All will be forgiven if we can get a real goalie

I don’t know why everyone is so mad, even Guentzel didn’t get a definite 1st rounder and the retained salary doesn’t carry over into next season at all.

If they couldn’t come to an agreement to re-sign him and this was the best offer, the alternative was to let him go for nothing.

If you hate the return on toffoli, imagine what we would have gotten without retaining. Trade market isn’t popping off this year.

I don’t understand how we got so little considering all the details. There has to be something that isn’t necessarily part of the deal. Whether it be the fact that Winnipeg was one of the teams he wanted to go to and/or he gave us some indication that he would want to sign with us in the off-season. If none of those things are true then I would rather us just keep him and keep pushing for the playoffs. I know we could have lost him for potentially nothing but this really feels like we got hosed

What an awful job done by Fitzgerald trading away Sharangovich

  14. theketchupthief

Fitz is a soft little bitch just like the team he’s built

  15. nsfwITGUY19

Omg. Jfc Fitz. Did they at least kiss you on the mouth when they bent you over?

  16. Spillz92

After seeing the Guentzel return, I just don’t think the market for rental wingers is really there. Sucks to not get a 1st but this is probably best Fitz could do.

Optimist’s view: Timo stays put on the right side!

Sure feels like Fitz is eroding a lot of that good will he built up. This is just not a great trade. Sure, it’s assets for a pending 31 yo FA. Just feels like you could’ve and should’ve gotten more for a guy on pace for 35+ goals.

Is there a new place that all the fans for the past 10 years can go to get away from the invasion of Facebook Devils fans* here?

It’s like every other GM in the league is supposed to secretly be working to make the New Jersey Devils better.

You know how a Flames fan commented recently in another thread today that the Flames subreddit all think they are getting Nemec AND Holtz plus picks for Markstrom?

That’s how many of you sound – equally fucking ridiculous.

And never with any realistic alternatives or any nuance; just bitching and everything is the end of the world because Fitz didn’t wave a magic wand and turn dog shit into us winning 6 Stanley Cups all in the same year.

    *- (not /u/facebookdevilsfans though)

Don’t love what we got in return but I’m giving the benefit of the doubt until I see what we do for 24-25. Much the same way I’m treating the NYG

  20. ricardofitzpatrick

So the 2025 second was for TT. (A nice bet for a team propped up solely on an aging goalie). 24 3rd for retention.

Figure this might look better tonight in hindsight

  21. NoFearsNoTears

This is honestly pathetic. What a joke of a trade this yegor toff bs turned into. I truly can’t believe how worked we got. Awful

  22. NoFearsNoTears

Anybody who thinks this is a good trade or even an “okay” trade is so delusional. This is the worst trade i’ve seen this year. We are getting laughed at for all of this. Why do we continue to find a way to embarrass ourselves?

  23. voxangelikus

I said it before: I’m not surprised by the small return (and salary retention), I’m surprised the team is even in this position at all.

  24. I see this being a Toffoli favor. He can be more noticeable on a less than stellar team. He can produce and hopefully get a bigger deal.

  25. SerPownce

GMs were all fucking soft this year. Somebody’s gotta say no at some point to this lowballing. Would’ve rejected this shit on principle

  26. Live-Within-My-Means

Hopefully, the disappointing return was not due to Fitz overplaying his hand.

  27. Redditfront2back

I think we have decent odds at signing him to a good deal after the season he seemed to really like it here

  28. chaos0xomega

This deals getting worse all the time

  29. Grimmer097

Should’ve kept Shango last year. Flames won this trade.

And giving up a 3rd for someone’s a below average 3rd string aging goalie was probably the worst trade of the year across the league.

3rd round picks for Toffoli and Allen are a wash. Basically we ended up with a second round pick for Shango.

We are not a better team after this deadline🤦🏻‍♂️
