The market to be a seller was horrible. Especially the winger market. I haven't looked at the available FAs for next summer. So I don't know the value of the winger contracts we have now compared to what we can bring in. But salary retention is a definite "no can do". I have heard rumblings of Jake wanting +8 mill and Sid wanting +10. For y'all fuming about trading Jake, that's a big chunk cap space.

I think Koivunen would want to play in the World Championships after the season is over. At least he said in one interview that it is his big dream

Just wanted to note that Koivunen has already made his North American debut, playing 12 games in the AHL in March and April of last year with Chicago. He only scored one goal (in the last game he played) and even that was on a wide open net after a beautiful tic-tac-toe setup by his teammates. While I'm admittedly not very well researched on him or any of the other prospects the Pens acquired, it is a worrying sign that his game might not translate as well to the smaller ice in NA or at the very least he'll need to get adjusted to the culture and style of play here. That said, he also has the most points in Liiga by a u21 player this year by a good margin… so really who knows how he'll turn out.

One thing he will bring to the Burgh is some badly needed SNOT to the lineup.

Is it possible we will still see new trade news tomorrow and maybe Dubas isn't done? My understanding was that while the "deadline" was at 3, if a trade was in process of being worked out/finalized, it could still continue and not be concluded until tomorrow. I'm new to following all this tho so please correct me if I'm wrong! Thanks for all your work btw – love the pod and always look forward to it.

The fact that Jarry isn't in the conversation for trade is wild. We can't have a goalie motivated based on how good the other goalie is. Be good. All the time. The fact that we aren't roasting Dubas for this, im baffled by this commentary. The only thing im holding out on is Dubas potentially re-signing Jake in the Off-Season. That would be elite level chess. Giving Jake a chance at a cup. They could get a pick off it. Then Jake, assuming he's willing, coming back in the offseason for the reload??? That's all im hoping for. He was in a very unique situation that I dont think he wanted to leave
