  1. btw, as eliteprospect showed up, now the oilers are the oldest team in the nhl (29.95 to 29.35)), even b4 the JG (rental) trade, which i hate…. makes only sense if Jake comes back after the season… "dubaaaaass" history with ex leafes, is irritating

  2. Remember, this is the guy who assigned 'himself' as GM. He was just supposed to be President of Hockey Operations

  3. 1000% a horrible trade. What is are they thinking. Why trade him for garbage? Jake wanted to stay and they could of afford him. Kyle dubas and Fenway sports are going to screw the penguins up so bad. Other teams got 1st round picks for player that are no where as good as Jake. Bullshit…

  4. The hurricanes have shown they are capable of making a cup run, being the only team to take down the panthers recently. It would seem thay the penguins have confidence the hurricanes could make it happen with the trade and get a bigger return.

  5. Thats a lot to pay for a rental. I did think that it was going to be Blake coming back though. Bunting played on Matthews line before he signed his deal w/ carolina. Do you expect Smith, Ned and ruhwedel to also be traded?

  6. Dubas needs to go! His very short tenure is already a disaster! Every move he has made had backfired to this point. The guys he has kept, the free agents he has signed, the trades he has made…all have blown up in his face!

  7. Is there a scenario where the pens would trade Karlsson back to ottawa for jakob chychrun? read that the new management is not sold on chychrun.

  8. I don't buy the notion that 'this is a price for a rental' stuff. Claude Giroux was a rental for the panthers and the flyers got a 1st and top prospect (tippett) and a mid-round pick. It was just a pathetic job by dubas and would be a fireable offense for anyone else. Unless by some miracle he hit's 50 grandslams on trade deadline day, dubas time so far has been terrible and I honestly think hextall would have done better in trading guentzel

  9. This year is exactly like last year. The common theme is this washed up core. All of them! Be excited about stocking young players and getting back to the playoffs in a couple years.

  10. Boooo Fenway Sports Group and Dubas!! A bad trade to the Canes a trade, to the in division Canes!! For peanuts. Hextall like move here

  11. I've heard podcasters in Toronto talk about how Dubas loves "his guys". That's seriously what it looks like here. He's got guys he likes for whatever reason and he wants them regardless of what it costs and how they'll fit. And I think that was Ryan Graves and other guys too but now Bunting is the latest. If this is how he's going to do business I worry for the Pens future. I'm glad he traded Smith. I still think with proper developing he could be good. Like Graves, he wasn't bad in NJ he just doesn't fit in Pitt.

  12. Go get a cup with Carolina, and come back next year. No sweat.

I don't get why everyone is so down on Dubas. He's been with the team 9 months, and walked into a mess. I think his work so far is admirable with the crap he's moved out, and still needs a few more weak links gone today. I'm excited to see what he does to re-tool in the offseason, obviously hope that involves re-signing Jake.

  13. Looks like I'll be cheering for the Canes to win it all so the Pens can maximize their return in the Guentzel trade!

  14. I don't like to be so harsh but it's time to call a spade a spade…. this gm is Hextall 2.0 and I'm sick of it! Absolutely got hosed

  15. Nice homage to Guentzel. However, you forget Guentzel isn't a natural wing man! Had Sullivan and his staff deployed him as a center (at all) we may have had that youth and energy.

  16. I don’t hate it you look at how many guys in the NHL right now that have solid careers that were low picks/prospects we don’t need a collection of super starts we need depth scoring you’re not going to get that if all your players score like mad let alone keep it with salary cap. I think Jake wants that cup more than anyone that first round is as good as locked up and who knows maybe this is a rare sign that he may come back 🤷🏻‍♂️

  17. How do we let such a good player go and we sign garbage to long contracts? We could have gotten rid of some deadwood and kept Jake. This was an awful trade from every angle. So much for Dubas.

  18. Like you said many factors we're not aware of also let's not forget the team had the chance to do something since October and they failed responsibility goes on the guys in the locker also. Let's not be sad that it's over let's just be happy that it happened. @insidethepenguins

  19. what i hear that if jake was gonna sign and trade they will give up a+ young player toward to pens

  20. Dubas reliving his failures with Bunting again 😂 Pittsburgh is over the hill the good times are gone. Time for a rebuild 2017 is long gone.

  21. Horrible trade. We should be chasing the GM, won't say his name, out of Pitt with torches and pitchforks. Unbelievably bad trade. It almost feels like Fenway sports is purposefully trying to kill this franchise.

  22. Not even players locked into great contracts like Chychrun go for a 1st and top prospect, Pens were not getting that for a Rentzel. Toffoli got a 2nd and 3rd… Dubas got: 2x 2nd round prospects, Lucias, AND Bunting, along with at least a 50 pick. That is a haul for a deadline rental.
