It’s not really a horrible trade. The prospects are young and solid players. Unbelievably sad, some of my best Pens memories are around #59 but it’s time to move on. Wish we could’ve nailed a solidified 1st round pick but other than that, decent return. More moves coming tomorrow 👀 Wish Jake more cups, always a Pen 🐧
So the Pens could have signed Bunting as a UFA last offseason and passed, only to trade their best winger for him within the division? Sounds stupid. F Dubas, he trades for a "Leaf". Simply sign Jake Guentzel instead of this garbage. Instead of picking up an A prospect Dubas gets 3 B level prospects and gives up Ty Smith. More players instead of a good player. Instead of a 1st round pick Dubas gets a 2nd. PENS = FLEECED! Remember Dubas traded for Reilly Smith instead of signing UFA Bunting over summer. YIKES!

Emily is forgetting the most important part of the Guentzel trade – Michael Bunting. Dubas just wanted his Bunting back at the end of the day.
Terrible deal for the Pens. Basically a 2nd round pick for combined Jake Guentzel & Ty Smith. The same team just gave their 3rd for just Evgeny Kuznetsov whom was healthy scratched and cleared waivers just weeks ago.
