C’est la première fois que je vois une équipe obtenir non pas un, mais 2 gardiens et les Devils du New Jersey obtenir 2 gardiens le jour de la date limite des échanges ! Cela signifie que les Devils auront un tandem composé de Kähkönen et de Jake Allen, nouvellement acquis des Canadiens de Montréal, pour clôturer le reste de cette saison. Cela donne à Nico Daws et Akira Schmid le temps de se développer dans la AHL avec les Comets d’Utica et les Devils avec plus de deux gardiens de but dans la LNH 1 pour clôturer cette année. Very happy! To be able to offload Vitek's contract given the season he's had and is still injured is a miracle! Go look at Kähkönen's goals above expected per 60 & compare that to Vitek's. He's a much better option than what we currently had in our stable. Fitzgerald said he's not done. He talked about "Big game hunting" in the offseason.
I have a strong fondness for Vitek from last season but this was a solid move. I hope Kappo comes in with something to prove for the last games of this season.
Fitz suggested Daws will take Allen's place "until he gets the rust off" or something
These are both good moves for setting up the offseason deals. Honestly, I actually feel a lot better now that these moves have been made because it shows an actual direction and focus on what Fitzgerald will be pursuing, rather than being in the dark and not knowing if there will be anything done to address the issues of goaltending and defense. Whatever happens for the rest of this season, at least we know work will be getting done moving forward.
Is shipping Blackwood and V to the Sharks the equivalent of sending them to a Goalie Golag in Siberia? Are we USSR? Are we the baddies?
I like what they did today.. I give him a B+. Like you said adding a #1 goalie and bulk up and down the lineup is on the summer to do list for Fitz. I have Faith in him.
I like this trade..Fitz is hoping to catch lightning in a bottle with one of them. I'm glad he didn't trade away the future for a goalie..
Did like hearing Fitzy after saying these trades open up the summer.. good trade wit SJ again.. get rid of VV contract was the biggest take away..

Day started rough. Wishing Toffoli and Miller the best. They both did good for this team and deserve to be on a playoff team atm for everything they have done. Definitely would like to see Hatakka and Nolan Foote get another chance in the lineup. It would be amazing to see this team pull a shocker and get into the post-season, but it's going to be a very steep hill to climb. Glad to get Kahkonen and free up some extra cap space for the off-season. There is a part of me that would like to see Vanecek bounce back after doing well last season. Let's see how the remaining games go and build from there.
I was upset with Allen but Kahkonen really has the potential to be an excellent goalie.
Kak can be like he was in min. we need to upgrade defense, and maybe a forward C. i like KAK as out main goalie! LGD!

Vanecek & Blackwood are the goalie tandem in San Jose, just like they were with the Devils for part of last season.
Overall, the trades they made yesterday was meh.
So refreshing to see some sensible people here. Devils fans all over don’t understand that Fitz isn’t getting “fleeced”. I wouldn’t be surprised if all the picks we acquired plus one of either Kahkonen or Allen get flipped in the off-season for a new, proven starter. These things take time. Just have some patience.
I really put no stock in Kahkonens numbers … he’s been on a AWFUL team, if there’s any way you go from .880 and 3.5 to .910 and 2.6 it’s by getting off that sharks team
