1. The Canucks made their moves throughout the season, so they didn’t have a lotta assets to move in March. Do you want to move Hoglander or Lekkerimaki to get a player who will be gone in July?

  2. Happy they didnt move young assets. They need value contracts to have good players in the $4+million oel buyout years.

  3. This roster isn't making the playoffs next year and definitely not winning this year. We have 24.9m to sign 5 forwards, 5 defense and a backup goalie. Expect serious strides backward.

  4. Makhevev should get some puck shootng coaching, maybe go to a different stick, shoot about a foot higher at the net.

  5. Replacing Blueger with Lindholm on the third line won’t be like it sounds. Blueger has an energy that contributes to the success of that line that Lindholm doesn’t have. Lindholm is a good player but he won’t bring the energy that has made the third line work. Not sure where his fit is but I doubt the third line is the same with Lindholm at centre. I think the Lotto line should be given more attention and then you can have Lindholm centre the second line with Hogz and opportunities for guys like Podz, Mykheyev, Suter ??

  6. Mikheyev is not a liability defensively so when he breaks out, that's a positive. Joshua's return will being balance back to the lineup. Lindholm will find his game now that the rumours can be put to rest.

The other teams may have loaded up but it doesn't necessarily mean success. A character player would have been nice. Each team Perry has joined has been knocked out of the playoffs 😂.

This team has chemistry so I agree with the GM. Go to war with the troops that got you here!

  7. I hated the Lindholm trade at the time and now that it prevented anything else from happening I hate it even more.

  8. The NHL trade deadline is like a feeding frenzy for the hockey media and it probably deserves some of the observations. But the Canucks should not be lumped or compared to other teams in their activities or lack thereof. For teams that want to buy, what they are saying is that we are not good enough in the playoff run or teams that are on the bubble, the latter of which does not apply to the Canucks. The team has been making trades throughout the season; so it's not as if they have been standing pat. Think about all the acquisitions the Canucks have made. How much do you think they will cost in this past week? Because of those earlier moves, the Canucks are actually in a position this year not to panic buy and give away the shop. Now I am not saying they will go all the way but they have made sure that the team will be competitive. We will see after the playoffs to see what else needs to be done, assuming they don't win it all.

As to Paterson's lament of the lack of physical presence, I propose this patchwork fix. Move PDG to the Pettersson line because PDP was fairly effective early in the season on the Miller line as he's the one who went into the corners to dig the puck out and forecheck ferociously. In terms of physical play, he's an upgrade from Suter IMO. If nothing else, he is about 20lbs heavier than Suter. This will free Pettersson and Hoglander to do their thing. Try this for 5 games and see how it goes. Btw, didn't he get into a scrap with Lowry in the Winnipeg game when Lowry flattened Aman? No, he's no Zadorov but he will stand up for his teammates.

  9. edmonton, colorado and vegas all loaded up because of the canucks. it will catch up to them down the road. blueger played in the playoffs for vegas and phil didn't and that was 10 months ago so that says it all right there.

  10. I like that the Canucks are not trying to do too much. I want us to be competitive for the next three years, not trading away our future ala Benning. After all, we are first in the conference, just let the guys play!

  11. Idk why anyone would be disappointed. You can’t fix your team at the deadline, and certainly can’t do it by giving up all the assets another GM would be asking on such short notice.

  12. The key is that they retained Lekkerimaki and Willander. Both of them will need to contribute on ELCs during the bad OEL years.

  13. There was nothing other than Tofoli on the trade board that was better than what we already have in the lineup. Once he was gone there was no point in making a trade solely for the reason of pleasing the critics. I don't know who is going to win the cup this year any more than anyone else does, but I'm certain we made the right moves on deadline day(which was to do nothing).
