Important aspects of these recent Jet acquisitions, to me, over and above the increase in skill level, is that each of these individuals will check their egos at the door, buy into coach Bonus’ team structure and long term goals and they are happy and encouraged to be in Winnipeg. This feels so good, particularly when contrasted to where the Jets as a team were at psychologically and statistically a year ago.

With that 50% retention on Toffoli it left Winnipeg with 3.7M in cap space – I bet you they were going after David Savard since his cap is 3.5M but Montreal wouldn't budge and wanted their 2nd rounder back plus a young player. Still a great pickup – Schmidt is an absolute liability and hopefully they buy him out in off season – 6M to be a human pylon.
