While I don’t view Kahkonen and Allen as upgrades, I agree with acquiring them. They can send the young goalies down and work on their development so they don’t start getting overwhelmed by the NHL.

Kappo was a great goalie before going to SJ. He had a lot of success in Finland, the minors, and then with Minnesota. Anyone would have been trash in SJ.
Do I think he’s the answer? Probably not. But he’s got some time to surprise us?
I think Jake Allen was a mistake. But he was cheap, and it lets Nico+Akira focus on the AHL and cook a bit longer.
Hopefully fitz keeps his word and gets us a big name this offseason. Then we’d have that goalie with Allen to back him up while Nico/Akira cook a bit more.
Or hell maybe Kappo plays out of his mind with a better team. You can’t judge his stats in SJ. You could put Patrick Roy in his prime on the current SJ Sharks and he would have been destroyed
