  1. Hronek is not worth 8m a year. I'd argue he's not even worth the 6.5m he was allegedly offered. Forsling just signed for 8 years at 5.75m. I'd take Forsling over Hronek any day of the week. I've watched every Canucks game this year and Hronek is barely average without the puck. He is completely a by-product of Hughes this year and could not lead his own pair. The worst thing this team has done is keep Hronek and Hughes together all year, it has just inflated Hroneks next contract.

  2. he will be the next Myers at 8million, not that great defensively , should have more goals and gets plenty of 2nd assists playing with Hughes. Hronek has them bent over a barrel because they traded a 1st plus more and is a ufa. trade him if he is greedy.

  3. Pull Hronek away from Hughes for the rest of the season and playoffs, and then make the same offer again, and he'll take it when he realizes he's barely average without Hughes.
And if he proves that he can run his own pair and perform like an $8m player, then give him the $8m. But that won't happen because he's just not that good without Hughes. 🤷‍♀

  4. Or….he goes and chases an offer sheet, and you decline the match and take the picks. 8.5 million gets you more than you paid to get him in the original trade. (2 firsts a second and a third).

  5. Situations like this remind me of Anson Carter. His success here was a direct result of playing with the Sedins. He got greedy, left and never achieved success again. If Hronik demands 8 mill, let him walk. 7 would be generous.

  6. Nucks f-uped needed a top 6 forward they were all in earlier not every year you can be on top of the league this year was the year to go all n
