Haven’t read the article yet (will after work) but I think he has a bright future if he cleans up his game a little. Primary focus right now should be learning how to throw clean (but still huge) hits. He will be a menace if he can avoid getting suspensions

Not even reading that article. He clearly belongs. He is playing on one of the best teams in the best league in the world and having a positive impact, bringing energy and opportunity on almost every shift. He’s done this while being challenged by real veteran heavyweights every single game and answering the bell when appropriate. The 4th line has been very responsible since he’s been here, and has had much more energy and impact. He gets to the net, creates havoc and uses his reach and hands to make plays. If he gets his hitting under control, Matt Rempe could be an important piece for the Rangers and players like him can change the momentum (good or bad)of a game or a series.

His absence was noticeable and his line with 2 vets played worse without him. Hes clearly got a role. Don’t get suspended anymore and I think we’ll be watching him for years.

His role should be on the second power play line parked in front of the goalie blocking out the sun.

I think he has a great future ahead of him. He’s very raw and very eager to prove himself, but I’m only seeing good things from him so far. Once he learns how to play a clean game and lay good hits, he could be invaluable to the team’s success. His personality and enthusiasm have an effect on both the team and the fans.

I think Lavy really likes him too, you could tell in his pre-game comments yesterday that Rempe’s definitely getting back into the lineup once his suspension is over. I’m so excited to see him in the playoffs, I think he could be one of those players who really elevate their game in the postseason.

My only fear is that his confidence has taken a hit after this suspension and he’ll be hesitant to play his game like he used to. He should still play hard and a bit mean –– but clean.

He’s young, plays on the edge and can actually play the game. He isn’t just an enforcer who is there to keep the other team in line, like Reavo was. I could really see him being a hot commodity as he can seemingly do it all. He can fight, he can actually play hockey, he can screen effectively, and he can hit. I think the suspension will give him a little bit of a wake up call, and he’ll learn from it. Next season when he gets the offseason to put on some weight and spend more time with the team, he could be a major piece for this team going forward.

Man i had no idea he lost his father in 2018

i like the thought of rempe standing in front of the net creating traffic, as well as delivering big hits (when appropriate). i think his « rabid golden retriever » energy is entertaining so far, but i think the right mentors and coaches can help him refine his skills and carve out a unique role that really helps the team. maybe kreider can work with him on deflections, that kind of thing.

i’m thinking of rempe as a modern-day jeff beukeboom, even though they play different positions. loved that dude.

  9. Vesey Brodz Rempe can be quite the 4th line next year

Echoing what others have said that Rempe absolutely has a future in hockey. Didn’t read the article but I’m going to take a page out of Steve Dangles book and highlight the market inefficiency.

For the longest time, the market inefficiency was small guys. GMs and Coaches would always overlook the little guys because hockey is a man’s game with fighting and checking, we need to get the big guys. 6ft and over only. Small guys are just going to get thrown around and taken advantage of. And that was the way it was, until it wasn’t. GMs and Coaches started to smarten up and realize that the game doesn’t need to be only brute force and some skill could be used. Fast forward to now and suddenly, big guys have become the market inefficiency. But now, they know they need to be more than just big guy smash.

All of that to say that I think we’re only going to see more and more guys like Rempe, and Edstrome, and the huge guy that plays for DET whose name I can’t remember are all way over 6ft, but they can do way more than just be big for the sake of it. And as long as all of those guys learn, Rempe specifically, how to keep up with the speed and how to hit guys smaller than them, they will absolutely have a place in this game.

He’s a fourth liner that forechecks people and fights when necessary. 13th forward who you can plug and play based on matchup and hopefully can trust not to hurt the team. The thing with Rempe is that he can actually skate. He isn’t a just a goon like Colton Orr or someone that can’t do anything else

I think the team needs to hire a big man to teach him how to hit. And Edstrom too for that matter. Even a John Scott as a consultant or something. A Hal Gill. Someone who can teach him the art form of how to hit someone 4-12 inches shorter than you while avoiding the head

I want to see him continue playing on the team and growing, I think he has great potential, just hope he doesn’t keep getting suspended
