If the team is competitive and the fans are not supporting then relocation should definitely be on the table!

  2. Why did the Jets lose 4 thohsand season tickets? I think I read ticket prices were locked for season ticket holders for a set period of time, but then the jets raised the prices! Who could afford a $35 per game ticket increase?

  3. TO ALL JETS FANS … PLEASE CHANT to your your best player ever….. " LAINE BETTER"…. and RELOCATE TO le nordique countery..,,the quebec nordiques best hockey people..

  4. Winnipeg has 80K median household income vs Calgary at 118K and Calgary + region has more than double the population

  5. 750k population! And a poor economy with little disposable canuck bucks. Houston and Atlanta both have roughly ten times the population and economy…..it's going to be a struggle to keep the Jets from relocating.

  6. People should not criticize the Jets' owner harshly for his honesty. Instead of offering a spin-answer filled with fluff and buzzwords, he openly acknowledged his mistakes and the need for corrective action, stating that failure to do so would result in significant trouble. I find this approach reasonable. He admitted that the team has largely dismantled its tix sales team because, for too long, demand was high. He also recognized that they haven't pursued corporate ticket sales as aggressively as they should have, placing them behind other markets. By actively selling and targeting corporate clients, he believes they can succeed. The economic climate and Winnipeg's relatively small market size are also factors to consider. I will give the owner the benefit of the doubt and withhold any judgment unless and until his plan to address these issues fails. If his strategy proves ineffective, then indeed, the Jets will face serious difficulties and will likely move.

  7. Hockey is very deeply engrained into Winnipeg. The corporate community was unfortunately was limited in buying season tickets when the Jets returned .. when the arena was sold out within minutes, as everyday fans bought up every available seat and then some. Now the Jets have the opportunity to adjust their marketing strategy. Mark Chipman is a very smart businessman who has lead many hundreds of millions of dollars of development around the arena. Knowing Winnipeg, as I do, I fully expect the area will be sold out next season as it was the first 10 years.

  8. Gary Bettman is a moron!! Answers Questions like a Liberal..Winnipeg is a strong hockey market…Lmfao!! In this shithole countries economy?? Horseshite!!!

  9. This is Washington Senators 2.0 aka move after a decade they got their team back.
No wait, Atlanta Thrashers 2.0…history eerily repeats itself!😮
If they move I hope it’s to Quebec where they already have a nicer & bigger arena built…or here to Hamilton 😆

  10. I saw another video about them needed a larger arena. Why? They aren't even selling out the one they have. People aren't waiting outside trying to get in. You don't need a new arena. You need to sell more tickets.

  11. Funny you should say that it is a bad look to leave a market twice. We need to talk about Atlanta. The Flames left for Calgary and the Thrashers left for Winnipeg. Why is the NHL even talking about a 3rd try at the market? I know it is a big market but is CRAZY to even consider Atlanta for a 3rd time!!! They failed Twice!!

  12. I doubt the Jets will get the same amount of leeway as the Coyotes have. The NHL is desperate to keep a team in Arizona, so they keep giving the Coyotes chances to make it work. The Jets could easily be in danger of getting moved to a larger market – maybe even back to Atlanta – if they don’t turn things around.

  13. I didn't take it as a dig I think bettman knows Canadians love hockey and that he believes it will be figured out. This is a reality they can't stay in business with so many empty seats in a smaller arena.

  14. I have finally subscribed!
Mark Chipman is dedicated to Winnipeg and downtown. He has developed True North and also the DCSP.. which is the Downtown Community Safety Partnership which helps with patrolling the downtown area and safety walks etc. He is very invested and not just in the Jets.
They have been talking about having the business community step up for tickets as well and getting old ticket holders back.
I think they could lower parking for season ticket holders or give them a good perk.
I think the “confidence” thing means he listened to their marketing plan and maybe it sounds good🤷🏻‍♀️ That’s how I took it.
    Good coverage Brody!

  15. Stepping in here as both a Jets fan/season ticket holder and also a local business owner (not a big business, but I do have 19 staff). What I can tell you is that because the season tickets originally were all offered to individuals over corporations, plus the very substantial wait list, a corporate package was nearly impossible to access for the first 10 years. Yes, there is clearly a short term problem here, but I have spoken with many in my network and just like I will be for next year, these folks are saying they will be happily stepping to the plate to purchase a corporate package. I may have been naive, but I wasn't really aware until this year the gravity of the situation. Another thing to note is that the Jets have 15% corporate season ticket holders whereas most markets run between 45-85% (again, because of the initial rush that all went to individuals). As a local business owner, I think this is a blip on the radar that the media possibly made into something it isn't. The economy is tough, but I don't believe the Jets future will or needs to rely on 85% individual season ticket holders. I think we can easily expect that 15% to become 30% or higher.

  16. You know, as a former Atlanta Thrashers fan, I remember Bettman swearing up and down at the NHL All-Star game that they were committed to Atlanta and had no plans to relocate.

  17. leave jets alone bettman. your pathetic sulking during presser to announce thrash move to winnipeg says it all. leave these good hockey mad canadian cities alone. Go conspire with con man/dirt bag merullio to fk az. into building arena got that joke franchise once again. Bettman said in may '11 'thrash are going nowhere'. On may 31 the move to winnipeg was announced. Bettman SUCKS and is a greasy liar.

  18. I feel for Jets fans. Hockey is huge in Canada, it's the economy and high cost of living that's hurting this team. Not the fans fault.

  19. Wait… Gary Bettman had POSITIVE comments about Canada? I hope Bettman is for real this time and not just trying to say things to curry favor.

  20. I love your channel and especially the fact that you do hockey stories .. You also do a great job with the sharks .

  21. Jets fan here who was at the presser with Mark Chipman and Gary Betman. I really think you’re reading into this the wrong way. When the team first went on sale they sold out 13,000 seats in 11 minutes. This didnt provide the opportunity for companies to dive in on season ticket sales which make up only 15% of the entire season ticket base. This became a major issue upon the pandemic when smaller groups of fans started cancelling their memberships because one or two of the people they pooled together with to buy them could no longer afford to continue going. Beyond that, it was followed by a backhanded season ticket drive (look up Forever Winnipeg) which further alienated fans as it called back on the teams original departure in 96. Toss in the fact that customer service was an absolute travesty on True North’s part and that’s how you not only found the season ticket list dry up, but also the waiting list to become a season ticket member.

The whole “community” comments by Betman are in regards to the business community to step up and make the difference as True North has started to engage with business leaders across the province to sell corporate season ticket packages. These are expected to greatly bolster numbers for next season.

Chipper also chimed in stating his comments around this not working in the long haul more so refers to them staying competitive as a team. If they can’t sell tickets the likelihood of them continuing to invest and spend to the cap simply won’t happen.

Lastly, keep in mind that True North is one of the largest real estate holders in Winnipeg with the jets being their anchor tenant. They’ve invested so much money into the downtown that the likelihood of them relocating any time soon is virtually zero.

But guess we’ll have to wait and see

  22. Everyone seems to forget local corporations were largely shut out of season tickets because they sold out in 17 seconds. 15% corporate support in Winnipeg. Next lowest in Canada is about 40%. There is really nothing to worry about, TNSEis just finally going to have to make some phone calls.

  23. I’m pleased too see the league handle this with such speed and shut down this nonsense about Winnipeg not being a strong market if only they could show such speed with the Oakland A’s style mess that has paralysed the Desert Dogs!!!

  24. Jets attendance is already looking better. Average 14300 since Christmas and I heard they dropped season ticket price by 10% today and have been inundated with calls.

  25. Jets attendance is already looking better. Average 14300 since Christmas and I heard they dropped season ticket price by 10% today and have been inundated with calls.

  26. Ticket prices are almost 1/3 those of the Oilers. Maybe it might be the lack of safety on the streets in the evenings downtown that's keeping the fans away…

  27. It doesn’t matter what Bettman says. Canadian fans’ victim complex will cause them to interpret everything as an insult.
